Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t officially arrive until the second week of December, which leaves three whole weeks before the general public can officially get their hands on it. Despite this, Cyberpunk 2077 has managed to steal the number one spot on Steam’s list for best-selling games of the week. So for the week of November 16 through November 22 Cyberpunk 2077 generated the most revenue.
Every week. Steam monitors how much revenue each game generates on its platform. It then compiles a list of the top ten games that made the most money in that week and puts it on display for its users. It’s important to note that these charts focus on revenue generated and not copies sold. They also don’t show exactly how much money each of the games generated.
By taking the number one spot, Cyberpunk 2077 beat out popular titles such as Destiny 2: Beyond Light and Among Us, and the latter game has been dominating 2020 since it blew up this summer. Cyberpunk 2077 is arguably the most anticipated game of the year, though, so its success isn’t too surprising. Still, the fact that it managed to dominate Steam’s sales charts before even hitting shelves is rather impressive. Those interested in checking out what other games it managed to beat can view the full list below.
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Valve Index VR Kit
- Phasmophobia
- Among Us
- Football Manager 2021
- Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin
- Destiny 2: Beyond Light
- Hades
- Wallpaper Engine
- Total War: WARHAMMER II – The Twisted & The Twilight
No other major titles came out this week to contend with Cyberpunk 2077, so that could be another reason it pulled off topping the charts. Even if a major title did release this week, though, it’s hard to imagine what would have contested Cyberpunk 2077, especially since the game itself hasn’t even launched yet. Right now, it’s holding first place with just its pre-orders. It’ll be interesting to see if the title manages to become number one again when its official release date actually does arrive.
Cyberpunk 2077 launches on December 10. However, that could change. CD Projekt Red doesn’t seem like it’ll issue another delay, but at this rate, nothing is guaranteed. The multiple delays may have only stoked how much people want to get their hands on the game, though, so that could help boost its sales.
Cyberpunk 2077 arrives December 10, 2020, for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
