Aquaman star Jason Momoa had a surprise for very special fan recently. When local CBS Boston affiliate WBZ produced a video report of 7-year-old Aquaman superfan Danny Sheehan receiving an Aquaman toy, the clip quickly went viral online. So when Jason Momoa saw the clip himself, he decided to do something special for Sheehan, calling in via Facetime to surprise the boy with a chance to meet his hero.
In the original video, Sheehan opens up an Aquaman toy with excitement, exclaiming that it’s his favorite character. He even shouts “I love Aquaman!” to really drive home the point. In the video posted to Momoa’s Instagram, Sheehan cheerfully greets the actor with an excited “Hi Aquaman!” and tells Momoa that he is “so excited” to be talking to him. During their conversation Sheehan tells the actor that he’s doing well, and that he loves dolphins, to which Momoa asks if he’s ever seen one. When he admits that he hasn’t, Momoa responds “we gotta make that happen.”
Then Sheehan asks if he can show Momoa something, and when Momoa sees it, he falls back into his chair in gleeful laughter. When the camera turns back to Sheehan on screen, he is holding an Aquaman toy, and Momoa and Sheehan’s mother joke that it looks just like him. Sheehan seemed to greatly enjoy his time talking with his hero, and the conversation was posted on Momoa’s Instagram, where it has since blown up over the internet, being shared all over and reported by several new outlets.
Danny Sheehan has been diagnosed with Pineoblastoma, a rare form of brain cancer, and is currently being treated for it with the support of his parents and community. On the Instagram post Momoa thanked the fans and community who made him aware of Danny Sheehan and included a link in his bio to a GoFundMe page where people can donate to the Sheehan family. He closed out the post with a call to Warner Bros. Pictures, writing: “Hey @wbpictures let’s get Danny a Aquaman Trident!“
