Last Oasis, the open-world survival MMO about outrunning a scorching sun on mechanical wooden walkers, has steadily grown from its rather rocky launch earlier this year, introducing new content like a volcanic biome. Now players have even more new stuff to look forward to, as the game’s second season has begun.
Yesterday saw the launch of Season 2 and the release of what developer Donkey Crew calls the “Commerce Update.” Like the name suggests, the new season of Last Oasis focuses more on trade and commerce, providing new and improved ways for players to acquire new technology and advance through the tech tree outside of harvesting resources or taking them from other players.
In a more controversial move, one of the update’s biggest changes introduces a hard cap on clan sizes, limiting them to 50 members. This is due to the fact that, according to Donkey Crew, larger clans proved to have too much of an advantage over players who chose to play solo or in small groups in the months following Last Oasis’ launch, effectively bottlenecking their progression. The update has also made it so clans can only spawn from one of their walkers at a time, since bigger clans in the first season were able to effectively fast-travel between walkers in large groups, a strategy known in the community as “clown car-ing.”
Outside of the new content that comes with Season 2, the game is set to grow in other ways. Just last week, Donkey Crew announced that Last Oasis is coming to the Xbox One and Xbox Series X next year, and it has expressed interest in bringing it to PlayStation as well. However, it does not have an estimate for when that could happen yet.
Last Oasis is available for PC, and is slated to launch in Q1 2021 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
