Project Wingman, the long-anticipated indie arcade flight shooter, is swiftly approaching its winter release date. For those who haven’t heard of Project Wingman before, it started as a successful video game Kickstarter campaign back in 2018 and is now set to launch on December 1, 2020.
Now, an update on the game’s Kickstarter page is giving fans some details on the game before its release. The post provides an in-depth rundown of what players can expect out of Project Wingman’s story mode, including the structure of the campaign and basic story details.
On Kickstarter, a collaborator going by the username FlyAwayNow took time to give backers the lowdown of what they can expect from Project Wingman’s campaign. The post first mentions that the campaign mode is only one part of the game’s single player mode. The story plays out in the form of missions that tell the tale “of a mercenary pilot known as Monarch, leading his allies to save a country against an imperial power known as the Federation.” For those who haven’t seen Project Wingman in action, the game takes some clear inspiration from the Ace Combat series, and the story mode seems to be no exception.
The post further details the kind of enemies and encounters players can expect during the story mode. Additionally, players will be “accompanied by two wingmen” and a supporting cast who will pop up to give guidance from the sidelines. Though Project Wingman has a story mode, the post confirmed that the game will not include cutscenes, as it was outside the team’s Kickstarter budget. Still, the entire posts seems to suggest that Project Wingman will have a robust story even without cutscenes. Players who love the Ace Combat series or arcade flight shooters should look forward to Project Wingman’s PC release on December 1.
