When players aren’t running around small Viking towns, climbing to synchronization points, or raiding other villages, they’re taking a break from Viking duties in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla to sit down to a nice game of Orlog. Now, this addicting mini-game inside Ubisoft’s latest dense open-world epic is getting its own physical release next year.
Speaking with Dicebreaker, Ubisoft has confirmed that it’s bringing the popular dice game from the virtual world to the real world sometime in 2021. Ubisoft will be working with PureArts to publish the physical version of the game so players can bring a piece of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla with them wherever they go. Aside from the announcement, Ubisoft did not provide any further details regarding a price or release date.
Players have gravitated to Orlog within Assassin’s Creed Valhalla as it allows them to sit down to a quiet, yet addicting, game of dice. Orlog consists of players laying out a leather mat and placing two bowls down, one for each player, in which they will roll their dice. Each dice has an axe, shield, arrow, helm, or hand which signify either an attack, block, or chance to steal. Additionally, any side of a die that has a dotted line grants a player a token, which allows players to use God Favors.
While the game seems simple at first, mastering Orlog can take a bit of learning and strategy. Players roll their dice three times and select the dice they want to keep, much like Yahtzee, to play against their opponent with the goal being to take each other’s health to zero. Players can also use tokens to activate strong God Favors to decimate their opponents. New God Favors (little totems that resemble Gods such as Thor, Odin, etc.) can be obtained by beating different opponents throughout the game.
Orlog is just the latest game that will be making a jump from its initial video game appearance to its own playable form. In 2015, The Witcher 3 included a similar side game called Gwent, which gained a huge following and lead to Gwent getting its own digital release on multiple platforms.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla boasts a huge open world with plenty of activities to take part in and secrets to find. Players can spend plenty of time with games of Orlog but they shouldn’t overlook some of the side quests in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which can get pretty wild.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
