During the latest episode of Disney and Lucasfilm’s The Mandalorian, the child known to fans as Baby Yoda managed to steal a batch of cookies from a student on the planet Nevarro. Now, fans who want to taste the snack featured in the Star Wars series can do so, courtesy of Williams Sonoma.
Upon returning to Nevarro in hopes of properly repairing the severely damaged Razor Crest, The Mandalorian reunites with Greef Karga and Cara Dune to discover that they’ve transformed the planet’s city from a bounty hunter’s haven into a place of legitimate business. In exchange for the repairs, The Mandalorian agrees to assist his two allies in destroying an Imperial base located on the other side of the planet and reluctantly leaves Baby Yoda in a newly built school. While waiting for his guardian to return, Baby Yoda finds himself eyeing the cookies of a nearby student who refuses to share the treat, prompting the undeterred infant to use the Force to get his hands on the snack.
Williams Sonoma, the self-described premier specialty retailer of high-quality cooking products, is now selling officially licensed The Mandalorian macarons dubbed “Nevarro Nummies.” A package of 12 amounting to 9 oz. total will cost $49.95, though they lack the fluorescent-blue filling of the version featured in the Star Wars series. “Inspired by a sweet moment when a young Nevarro student debated sharing his treats with the Child, 21st-century artisans in California have created these ethereal French-style almond macarons capturing the essence of this scene with Nevarro Nummies,” reads the official description of the macarons. “For authentic galactic flavor, each exquisite treat is artfully hand-piped with a rich, creamy vanilla filling.”
Because the existence of Baby Yoda was kept a secret until The Mandalorian premiered on Disney+ in November 2019, merchandise centered on the break-out character of the series was withheld. Since then, the have been a number of Baby Yoda products released or slated to hit store shelves for fans to express their appreciation of the character. Of course, many of these products will cost a considerable amount of money, including the $79.99 Baby Yoda LEGO set.
Baby Yoda’s existence was such a well-kept secret that even new cast members for the second season of The Mandalorian were unaware of the character. Actor W. Earl Brow, for example recently recounted a story in which he arrived on the set expecting to work with an actual child before discovering his co-star was the now-famous green puppet.
Fans in need of more Baby Yoda content outside of The Mandalorian and related merchandise may be excited to know that the child makes an appearance in the LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special. The latest addition to the Star Wars franchise will be released exclusively on Disney+ on December 17.
The Mandalorian is now available on Disney+.
