Destiny 2 Removes Loot Cave With New Patch | Game Rant

It was bound to happen sooner or later, but it’s still disappointing news nonetheless. Bungie’s latest patch for Destiny 2 removes the Destiny 1 loot cave easter egg that the Beyond Light expansion introduced. The patch — properly known as hotfix 3.0.0.4 — nerfs the number of enemies that the cave spawns. In other words, players can no longer use the cave to easily collect massive amounts of loot, which they did by killing off bottlenecked hordes in short intervals.

Before the patch, the cave would produce a near-endless amount of enemies, and every single one killed had a chance to drop an Engram for guardians. Since the hordes spawned in a cave, they only had one way out, so to deal with them, guardians only needed to camp the cave entrance and kill whatever tried to come out. Once the enemies stopped spawning, the only thing left to do was collect their loot.

This type of farming method made the loot cave a problem back in Destiny 1 as well, which is why Bungie patched it out. It only reintroduced it into Destiny 2 to commemorate the fact that Beyond Light was bringing back the Cosmodrome, which is the first area Destiny players ever explored and the place where the loot cave existed. Bungie also meant for the cave to help players prepare for the Deep Stone Crypt raid, as using it helped them reach the soft power cap and progressed them through their Season Pass levels.

Now that players have defeated the Deep Stone Crypt raid, Bungie has decided to remove the cave. Season of the Hunt — the current season — still has a few months left in its lifespan. It doesn’t end until February 9 of next year, so Bungie is taking measures to ensure that players don’t breeze through all of its content before then. The loot cave would certainly allow this with both its ability to quickly level up Season of the Hunt’s Season Pass and grant players multiple chances to roll weapons and armor they don’t have through its many engrams.

The patch addressed other Destiny 2 issues as well, such as lowering the Strike vanguard playlist’s power level and removing an issue that allowed players to skip to the end of the Veles Labyrinth Lost Sector. Anyone interested in everything that the patch addressed can check out its completed notes below. There are quite a few things to look over, but it’s mainly bug fixes as this patch is a hotfix.
