xQc Says His Twitch Ban was a Good Thing | Game Rant

In place of its usual TwitchCon convention, Twitch recently held an online event called GlitchCon this year. Unfortunately, the Twitch Rivals event during GlitchCon was fraught with controversy by some major streamers violating Twitch’s guidelines.

Perhaps the most prolific streamer that was involved in the incident was Felix “xQc” Lengyel, who was temporarily banned from Twitch for seven days. Now, xQc has returned to Twitch and actually commented that his ban was a good thing.

xQc made his return to streaming yesterday, pulling in some impressive numbers. xQc held over 100,000 concurrent viewers at one time during his return stream, which is a substantial jump in views from his normal numbers. Undoubtedly, many of those viewers showed up to see what xQc would say about his temporary suspension from Twitch, but it’s still an impressive achievement in its own right. During the opening segment of his stream, xQc took time to address the ban and explained his reaction to the initial fallout surrounding Twitch’s decision.

xQc addressed the initial shock of seeing people rejoice over the decision and feeling as if people simply did not want him to improve as a person. He also took time to address the reaction to his apology for stream-sniping during the competition, noticing that there were plenty of people on social media saying that his apology wasn’t good enough. However, xQc wrapped up his thoughts by explaining why he thought his temporary ban was a good thing overall, as it served as a reason to learn from his mistakes and do better moving forward.

In regards to Twitch’s decision to temporarily ban him despite his large audience, xQc said, “I don’t think bigger streamers get preferential treatment. And I think that was a good showcase of it.” Of course, xQc was not the only Twitch streamer to get banned following the Twitch Rivals event. Three more Twitch streamers were temporarily banned following Twitch’s decision against xQc, with a fourth streamer having to forfeit all of his winnings from the event.

Still, it seems this punishment may actually serve as a reminder to bigger streamers that can face consequences when violating Twitch’s guidelines. What’s more, this event will hopefully serve as a reminder to be a more responsible content creator, as it seems to have done in xQc’s case. The GlitchCon event pulled in millions of viewers over its weekend long run, meaning plenty of people learned about Twitch’s punishment regarding xQc and others.
