Cyberpunk 2077 Pre-Loading Date, File Size, and Other Details Leak Online

The long wait for Cyberpunk 2077 is set to finally end in less than two weeks, fingers crossed. With CD Projekt RED assuring that Cyberpunk will meet its release date this time, everyone can now really start to think about preparing for its arrival and getting to playing as soon as possible. For many, this means wondering if they’ll be able to pre-load the game, and according to a supposed leak, it looks like they will be.

Years of teases, reveals, and showcases have made it clear that CD Projekt RED’s next open-world RPG will be one of its largest and densest yet, stuffed to the rafters with nuanced gameplay systems set in one of the most detailed video game settings ever designed. Naturally, all of that content will require a sizable download, and that could keep players from diving into Night City for up to a few hours come launch day.

But according to the Twitter account PlayStation Game Size, PS4 owners will be able to avoid that scenario, as the game will be available to start pre-loading on December 8, two full days before launch. It doesn’t say if pre-loading will be available on other platforms, but it seems safe to guess that it will. Furthermore, the account claims that while the game’s file size will weigh in at 71.73GB on PS4, the actual download will supposedly require a full 72GB to get the whole game on the console.

Given the scale of what CD Projekt RED has shown so far, a lot of gamers have been pleasantly surprised by Cyberpunk’s fairly small file size, but it should be noted that it probably won’t stay that way for long. PlayStation Game Size’s post noticeably leaves out any detail on the day one patch that will likely debut alongside the game, which could bump up the file size by 10 or 20GB. Not to mention that the file size for the upcoming next-gen versions of the game will probably take up even more space, potentially weighing in at around 100GB or more.

Of course, all of this is unverified information at the moment, so this should be taken with a grain of salt until CD Projekt RED says something about it, which, at this rate, could happen any day. Still, anyone planning on downloading Cyberpunk 2077 next month may want to consider making sure they have some extra storage space saved up, just in case. After waiting all these years for this game to come out, no one’s going to want to be held up any further by a lack of space.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on December 10 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions releasing in 2021.
