Following the expansion release and the start of the latest seasonal content, Destiny 2 continued to evolve this past weekend. The latest World’s First Raid race kicked off last Saturday, pitting Fireteams against one another to take on the Deep Stone Crypt. In the end, Bungie confirmed that it was Clan Luminous that came out on top and scoring the World’s First title.
Similar to what happened once Riven was beaten for the first time inside of the Last Wish raid, Destiny 2 has once again changed as new content and quests appeared for all players. Players received a new exotic quest leading to the extremely powerful heavy sword The Lament as well as taking part in new Exo Challenges on Europa. Players could also visit a brand new NPC deep within the Exo Science area, a massive exo head that contains the AI version of Clovis Bray.
Even with so much to do these days in the Beyond Light expansion, players should take a minute to go find the exotic merchant Xur who is back again inside of Destiny 2. Follow this guide for his location, news on his exotic cypher quest, as well as a review of what he’s currently selling for the weekend of November 27, 2020.
This weekend, players will need to head to the Tower hangar to find Xur overlooking the snowy mountains.
From the default landing zone, immediately head to the left and following the path down into the Hangar. After entering the hangar, head left again past Arach Jalaal and his Dead Orbit crew and up a metal stair case. Xur is standing on a metal platform at the back of this room overlooking the mountain ranges below.
While Xur’s role is essentially the same as it was prior to the Beyond Light expansion, the exotic merchant also has weekly quests that players can acquire to unlock an exotic cypher. Not only are these required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the new kiosk.
This week, players can earn a new cypher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.
Other than that, here are Xur’s three gear pieces this weekend:
Phoenix Protocol – Warlock chest armor
A former top tier exotic item, the Phoenix Protocol is back on sale this weekend for Dawnblade Warlocks. Battle-Hearth give Dawnblade Warlocks a return on super energy for any kills or assists they make while standing inside of the Well of Radiance.
Thankfully, the roll Xur has this week on this exotic is quite good. Recovery, intellect, and strength are all fairly high making this likely better than most current rolls on the exotic. Worth a look.
Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +11
- Resilience +6
- Recovery +17
- Discipline +2
- Intellect +14
- Strength +12
Khepri’s Sting – Hunter Gauntlets
the Egyptian styled gauntlets known as Khepri’s Sting are available for Hunters this weekend. Touch of Venom is the exotic perk and it’s entirely for Nightstalker players. The perk makes the smoke bomb detonate instantly and not only improves the damage but grants the player Truesight as well.
While not exactly a top tier item for Hunters, these gauntlets likely won’t replace the other exotics or the new ones recently added to Beyond Light. They’re not a required purchase this week by any stretch of the imagination.
Void Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +7
- Resilience +8
- Recovery +16
- Discipline +7
- Intellect +13
- Strength +8
Lion Rampant – Titan leg armor
Titans who need a bit of mobility and stability when making tricky jumps will want these rocket boots. Similar to the St0mp-EEZ for Hunters, Lion Rampant’s come with the perk Jump Jets which provides added maneuverability in the air and enables accurate hipfire while players are in the air during Lift. Basically, these boosts will help make Lift Titans jump for twice as long.
Naturally, these boots are great for more platforming based activities like the new Exo Challenges, which just arrived inside Europa. Outside of that, a players mileage will vary as they don’t offer a significant boost to combat boost like other Titan exotics.
Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +9
- Resilience +9
- Recovery +15
- Discipline +6
- Intellect +2
- Strength +21
At one point this year, Hard Light was largely regarded as the strongest weapon in Destiny 2, including competitive events like the Crucible. It was favored by most players for its rapid fire, high damage, and near zero recoil. As these things tend to go, the nerf hammer finally fell on the weapon, reducing it’s effectiveness. These days, the weapon is largely outclassed by other auto rifles in the game, making it hard to recommend. The changing elemental damage is helpful at times, so the gun remains serviceable.
For those who don’t know, Hard Light basically shoots lasers thanks to its Intrinsic perk, Volatile Light. Rounds fired from the weapon have reduced damage falloff, overpenetrate targets, and ricochet of hard surfaces. The more they ricochet, the more damage they inflict.
Additional perks:
- Polygonal Rifling
- Alloy Magazines
- Composite Stock
Here’s the complete rundown of Xur’s entire stock in Destiny 2 for November 27, 2020:
- Phoenix Protocol (Warlock chest armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Khepri’s Sting (Hunter gauntlets) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Lion Rampant (Titan leg armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Hard Light (Auto Rifle) – 29 Legendary Shards
- Exotic Engram – 97 Legendary Shards/1 Exotic Cypher
- A Question – Exotic Cypher Quest
Destiny 2: Beyond Light is now available PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
