Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Has Useful and Hilarious Training Dummies Bug

Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed is arguably the company’s most prolific series, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla hasn’t been in players hands for too long, but in that time fans have found more than a few bugs and glitches. A recent glitch, however, isn’t exactly a new problem to the new Assassin’s Creed, instead acting as a strikingly hilarious showing of how RNG can sometimes work in players’ favor in strange ways.

The glitch itself isn’t the kind of thing that players can exactly force to happen on their own, instead appearing randomly while playing Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and accepting certain missions. Fortunately, some players who have run into the bug have been kind enough to share it on the Assassin’s Creed subreddit, showing off their good luck and driving more players to keep hoping into the game in hopes of seeing it.

This new bug can be found when accepting daily assassination targets, repeatable missions that players can use to grind up a little extra currency every day. What these quests normally require is to find specific NPCs in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla that have been given a randomly generated backstory and then assassinate them. The bug occurs when sometimes the daily mission chooses a training dummy as the assassination target as opposed to an actual NPC, charging the player to confirm the death of a bundle of hay wrapped in loose linen.

As a result, players can then eliminate their target in clear view of everyone without having to worry about being caught while confirming the assassination, due to the target not registering as a person. It appears that this glitch continues to persist after the recent update to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla as well, so players may still have time to hunt down a bag of straw for opal before it does eventually get patched out. Then again, the extra creep factor of giving a training dummy a backstory of stealing some crops or killing farmers may be worth hanging onto for the added horror element.

It’s still yet to be determined if these accidental assassination targets will ever be addressed in Assassin’s Creed‘s lore, something that some developers have done with glitches. However, the glitch itself might be the kind of bug-turned-feature that Ubisoft might want to consider holding onto with future patches. Seeing as how it only affects a small selection of side quests and has an added benefit of being pretty funny, the training dummy bug wouldn’t hurt most players’ experience for sticking around.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
