Genshin Impact Leaker Hints at Skins | Game Rant

Genshin Impact fans have had a great fall thanks to the arrival of the game’s first substantial patch: Version 1.1. This update introduced new characters, quests, enemies, and events to the game, but devoted players have already started seeing past the new features and following potential future updates, including cosmetic items.

Though Genshin Impact Version 1.1 was originally leaked, along with another slate of content that has yet to be released, it seems that miHoYo may have even more imminent content in the back burner than was originally believed. With players still anticipating new arrivals in December and early 2021, Twitter-based leaker “NEP NEP” claims that players should also look forward to additional content like skins.

In a brief, cryptic tweet, NEP NEP acknowledged a question that they apparently often receive: “Will there be skins?” According to the leaker, whose official Twitter account was christened several days ago, the answer is “yes,” there will be skins in Genshin Impact some time in the future. At the moment, few additional details are available, but NEP NEP claims they received confirmation at the start of the game’s beta that there would eventually be character skins in the game.

The end of the message is a bit unclear (in-part due to language barriers), but fans are speculating that the “since no new… so have time” portion of the message intends to express something to the effect of: “no news since then though, so be patient.” This would make sense, given that players still haven’t seen the entirety of the last batch of Genshin Impact leaks make their way into the game. Following those leaks, miHoYo took legal action against those responsible, so if anything fans are surprised to see a new leak so boldly announced on social media.

Ever since the game’s release, creatively-inclined players have taken to Reddit and other forms of social media to share their Genshin Impact fanart and cosplay, which is standard for nearly all video games nowadays. That said, in Genshin Impact‘s case, much of the artwork shared by fans spurs the same response asking miHoYo to add more customization into the game.

Despite the numerous playable characters available in Genshin Impact, many fans of the game argue that it would benefit from additional customization options. Namely, cosmetics, if not features like houses and buildings. Original creations, like an illustration of Xiangling in a Guoba tee featured by NEP NEP, have drawn the praise of thousands of fans, most of whom seem eager to spend Primogems to customize their characters.

Thankfully, it seems that miHoYo may be listening if this leak is authentic, and those players’ wishes may eventually come true. The question remains how these cosmetics could be made available, and if they will be offered free of charge like Fischl and Barbara, or in exchange for premium currency.

Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for Switch.
