The Witcher Holiday Promo Proves Geralt is not a fan of Christmas

With The Witcher production team currently dealing with getting back to business after their most recent COVID-related setback, it’s unlikely fans of Netflix’s show will get to see a proper trailer for season two in 2020. However, that doesn’t mean the editing staff isn’t working hard in some other Witcher related content.

Halloween had already brought Geralt of Rivia’s monster mashup video, which revealed two new foes Henry Cavill will probably face in The Witcher’s second season. That’s part of the little official info shared by the show so far, aside from confirmation that Game of Thrones’ Kristofer Hivju (Tormund) is set to appear, along Agnes Bjorn playing a vampire bruxa named Vereena.

So while hardcore fans of The Witcher dig deep into Andrzej Sapkowski’ books looking for clues, they might as well put on their holiday spirit to watch Netflix’s new “Witchmas” mash, featuring an adequate seasonal beat like “Sleigh Ride”.

Like most tweets shared by the official Witcher Twitter account, the video comes with its own prose, prompting viewers to “Save your sleds for another day, for now is a time to simply slay”. The beautifully edited extra snowy clip shows some of the first season’s scenes adorned by plenty of Christmas lights and decorations, with even Geralt punching elf hats right off people’s heads.

To absolutely no one’s surprise Geralt is not shown to be the biggest fan of Christmas, as the video instead chooses to show Cavill’s signature grunts and blank stares which on his own monster encyclopedia would classify him as at least part Grinch. After all, if there’s anyone in The Witcher’s cast bound to show some holiday spirit it’s probably Jaskier, who would probably write up his own Christmas tunes, in case they happen to have such a thing in The Continent.

The Witcher looks a long way from completing filming, so until a season two trailer drops, more official images are promoted or new casting announcements surface, there’s a remote chance the editors could perhaps come up with a New Year’s Eve clip, maybe even Valentine’s Day just for kicks.

The Witcher season two is coming to Netflix in 2021.
