The Uncharted series from Naughty Dog is among PlayStation’s best and most beloved franchises. The adventures of Nathan Drake and his lovable companions garnered dozens of awards and mountains of praise. Fans have taken to Twitter to shower Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in particular with some extra love today.
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End had its fourth anniversary celebrated earlier this year, where fans also shared their love for Uncharted 4 in the form of heartfelt replies. Uncharted 4’s story gave an end to treasure hunter Nathan Drake’s story that many felt was a narratively strong. The game currently holds a 93 on Metacritic and won Game of the Year Awards from the BAFTAs and SXSW, as well as awards for Best Narrative and Best Performance (for Nolan North as Nathan Drake) from the Geoff Keighley-hosted Game Awards.
Uncharted 4 is trending on Twitter, which seems to have started when a clip from Uncharted 4’s motorcycle chase sequence, first shown at E3 2015, was shared by an account called “best of video games.” The Tweet has garnered almost two thousand likes as of this writing, and has set in motion nearly another 1.5 thousand other Tweets about the game from fans.
Another Tweet came from user @99adherent, who declared Uncharted as “one of the greatest franchises ever” and Uncharted 4 in particular, “A visual masterpiece with a brilliant narrative.” Based on the likes it received, over a thousand people seem to agree, as did the Writers Guild of America, which gave its Best Video Game Writing award to it in 2017.
Another Tweet from @reddylan04 received over 2,000 likes for showcasing the lush and detailed Madagascar vistas in Uncharted 4. The 16-year-old college student calls Uncharted 4, “beautiful” and says that the game “deserves the love it gets.” Perhaps one of the most praised aspects of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted series are the games’ graphics, and @reddylan04 shows why.
Uncharted 4 also included an incredibly robust multiplayer, which GameRant called one of the Best Multiplayer Games of 2016. The game had a huge number of skins and incredibly detailed dance emotes, which someone put together into a wonderful dance compilation.
While Uncharted 4 may have wrapped the series up for now, there is still more Uncharted content coming. A live-action film starring Spider-Man actor Tom Holland has finished shooting and is slated to release on July 16, 2021. Video game Nathan Drake actor Nolan North was able to visit the set of the movie and reported that after talking to the cast, crew, and director, he had a great deal of confidence in how the movie will turn out.
Uncharted 4 is available on the PS4 and the PS5 via backwards compatibility.
