Crash Bandicoot 4 Has Secret Easter Egg That May Be Teasing a New Game

After launching in mid-September, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time has been met with positivity by a number of Crash Bandicoot fans, both new and old. The game houses unique levels that complement classic gameplay mechanics the series is known for. However, there are also Easter eggs present throughout the game, one of which has only recently been pointed out by players.

If there’s one gaming franchise that has managed to make a tremendous comeback in recent years, it’s Crash Bandicoot. Following the release of The N.Sane Trilogy in 2017, the trilogy managed to make its way onto nearly every major system and found success among many in the gaming community. The release of Crash Bandicoot 4 only exacerbated the series’ newfound success. However, it seems this recent discovery within Crash 4 could potentially allude to a fifth game.

A Twitter user by the name of Kevin Fagaragan found a small Easter egg after beating the game with 106 percent completion. If the player goes up to the TV in the first level and cycles through the different channels that feature mainline Crash Bandicoot game titles, a small image will appear briefly before going out. This image appears to be a piece of Wumpa Fruit, found throughout the game, encased in a blue-and-orange circular outline.

This image could signify a lot of things, but so far the popular theory seems to be that it could be a tease for Crash Bandicoot 5, considering it appears after going through each Crash Bandicoot game logo. The fact that players have to completing the entire game, beating every single one Crash Bandicoot 4’s hardest levels just to get to this image, does seem to point to the development of a new game.

Whether the image actually points to anything substantial remains to be seen, and should be taken with a grain of salt. Outside of another mainline installment, this could potentially point to another remake or remaster. The recent remake of Crash Team Racing resonated with a number of old school fans, and with so many games in the Crash Bandicoot library it seems possible.

In any case, fans of the series will just have to wait to find out more. Even if this does point to a new game, it could take time for the game to release, let alone be unveiled. It took two years for Crash Bandicoot 4 to be revealed after The N. Sane Trilogy was ported to every other major system. There are a number of obscure Crash Bandicoot games that could potentially get remastered too.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time is available now on PS4 and Xbox One.
