Latest Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Update Fixes PS4 to PS5 Trophy Glitch

A couple of weeks ago, Ubisoft released Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, which quickly garnered mostly positive reviews from fans and critics. The studio also made it easier for players to transition between the current to next-generation consoles, given that those who own the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be able to upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series X at no additional cost.

Unfortunately, it appears that some players were hesitant to make the upgrade, given that some encountered an issue with the game’s trophy system. Players who made the leap to the next-gen system reported that the trophies they earned on the PS4 version were wiped out upon transitioning to the PS5. This issue is problematic for players trying to earn as many trophies as they can, given that once they transition to the PS5, they are forced to start from scratch. Luckily, Ubisoft was quick to remedy the solution, and its latest patch has now fixed the trophy glitch in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Interestingly enough, the patch notes for the latest update, 1.0.4 that was released on November 26, did not mention the trophy fix. But players who had their trophies wiped out soon discovered that every single achievement they earned on the PS4 is starting to pop up on the PS5. The patch fix appears to have fixed the issue where the PS5 cannot read the player’s trophy information via cloud data and transfer it into the PS5’s trophy system. This means that players who were hesitant to make the upgrade upon hearing of the issue can now rest easy given that their trophies will be successfully transferred to the next-generation console without a hitch.

Unfortunately, it appears that the update was not able to fix every single problem that continues to linger in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Shortly after the game’s release, players reported issues revolving around their Assassin’s Creed Valhalla save files getting corrupted. Upon encountering this error, the game would only provide players with one course of action: to delete their save data altogether and start the game at the very beginning.

It is worth noting that Ubisoft has since acknowledged the issue and revealed a few days ago that it is actively working on a fix. The studio did not specify when exactly this fix will be rolled out to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but it reassured fans that the update would be rolled out “in the coming weeks.” It is worth mentioning that Watch Dogs Legion players are also encountering the same problem. While Ubisoft is also aware of the issue, the studio confirmed that the patch to fix it wouldn’t come out until December.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
