Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Recreated in Minecraft

Minecraft continues to be an overwhelming force in the gaming landscape. Just yesterday, Minecraft reached over 600 million active users, with 400 million of those players coming from users in mainland China.

With such a large player base, the Minecraft community continuously creates some amazing content surrounding the game. Now, one player has recreated the entirety of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in Minecraft, including items, boss fights, and much more.

Fan builds and recreations in Minecraft are one of the most popular projects for members of the game’s community. Plenty of those fan builds revolve around recreating iconic locations and set-pieces from other popular video games. Earlier this summer, one player recreated Warzone’s Gulag in Minecraft. Though, Rivero on YouTube may be responsible for one of the most impressive Minecraft recreations ever made.

Rivero set out on his plans to recreate The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time all the way back in 2013. According to an interview with PCGamesN, Rivero started his build in 2013 on the Xbox 360. However, three years later Rivero decided to scrap that version and rebuild it using the PC version of Minecraft. Now, after seven years of building, Rivero has finally finished recreating the entirety of Ocarina of Time inside of Minecraft, and is releasing it for free for players to download. Rivero has even uploaded a release trailer with a download link in the description.

By downloading this world build, players can travel from Ocarina of Time’s Kokiri Forest all the way to the final fight against Ganondorf. What makes this build even more impressive is that it was completed using Vanilla Minecraft, meaning no mods of any kind were used to craft or shape the existing game world. Rivero used Minecraft’s handy command blocks to pull off a lot of the incredibly impressive mechanics present throughout the build. Rivero also has a full timeline of his build in his Discord server, which documented his progress for years.

Needless to say, this is undoubtedly one of the most impressive fan builds in Minecraft’s history. Ironically, it meshes two companies who have begun to work together as of late, surrounding Minecraft specifically of all things. Nintendo and Xbox have partnered together with Minecraft in the past, and recently Minecraft’s Steve as a DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Maybe this impressive recreation of Ocarina of Time will spawn even more amazing Nintendo-themed builds in Minecraft.

Minecraft is available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
