Weird Spider-Man: Miles Morales Glitches Could Be Featured in Next Spider-Verse Movie

With strong sales and great reviews, it is safe to say that Spider-Man: Miles Morales was a successful follow-up to the original game. Even the bugs in Spider-Man: Miles Morales are being received well by Spidey fans, including Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse producer and story writer Phil Lord.

While fans of PlayStation’s Spider-Man universe may want to see the Spider-Verse explored in an upcoming Insomniac game, they are guaranteed to see it on-screen once again via a sequel to the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Phil Lord, the writer and producer for both the original movie and the upcoming sequel, has commented on the recent game starring Miles Morales — specifically the silly transformation bugs that can happen to the young hero.

The bugs in question have seen Miles Morales transform into streetlights, bricks, and, most recently, a heater. Twitter user @DoctorCuriosity shared a clip of the glitch, dubbed “heater parker,” and it is absolutely hilarious to see a heater swinging its way through New York City while the player in control giggles in delight. The tweet quickly went viral before being followed up with an even more popular post, this time seeing Phil Lord say “we’re putting this in Spider-Verse 2 if we have any self respect at all.”

While the post could certainly be read as a joke, the inclusion of the Spider-Man: Miles Morales transformation bugs seems genuinely possible for the Into yhe Spider-Verse sequel. With the original movie referencing the first game via Peter Parker’s Advanced Suit, as well as the inclusion of Spider-Ham in a prominent role, the weird glitch would fit perfectly with the fun tone the film is sure to have. Paying homage to everything Spidey-related is part of what made the first film so special to fans, and the sequel is on track to do the same by paying respect to these bugs.

With Spider-Man: Miles Morales acknowledging Into the Spider-Verse in so many ways, be it the actual costume, dialogue easter eggs, or using Jaden’s music for both soundtracks, it makes sense for the animated sequel to include a nod to the game as well. With fans recreating Into The Spider-Verse scenes via Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and the Into the Spider-Verse director previously sharing his admiration for the game, it seems that fans and creators alike are more than ready for this funny crossover.

With The Spectacular Spider-Brick now likely to appear in the Into The Spider-Verse sequel, it could only be a matter of time before the crime-fighting building material makes an appearance in the comics as well. Until then, though, gamers can live out their fantasies of being an inanimate object with superpowers in Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available now on PS4 and PS5.
