World of Warcraft: Shadowlands – Best Covenant for Every Healing Spec

World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is a large expansion filled with the afterlife of the diverse world of Azeroth. Those who were good people during their lifetimes are sent to one of four covenants, and each is themed around a specific type of power and personality type. So it stands to reason that when choosing to join a covenant, players should choose the one that best matches their specs.

The four covenants rule four of the five major locations inside of the Shadowlands. Each one has signature abilities and class-specific abilities that can not only give the joining players benefits, but also can get them unique quests and zones inside of each of the covenants’ locations. The four covenants are the kind-of-terrifying but pretty Bastion‘s Kyrian, Maldraxxus’ Necrolords, Ardenweald’s Night Fae, and Revendroth’s Venthyr.

Kyrian’s special ability is all about helpful consumes, healing, and removing negative status effects, Necrolords gain the ability to use Fleshcraft to form a shield of bone and flesh, Night Fae grant the players speed boosts and teleportation, and the Venthyr allows a player to become nearly invisible. Each location and covenant is filled with some intensive and inescapable World of Warcraft: Shadowlands story and lore.

In Oribos, players will find the leaders of each covenant, Kyrian’s Polemarch Adestres (36.2, 64.2), the Necrolord Baroness Draka (43, 74), the Night Fae Lady Moonberry (39.6, 60.9), and Venthyr’s General Draven (44.7, 68.8). Initiate a chat with the Covenant leader to join that Covenant.

  • If a player has no current allegiance, they will just join the Covenant.
  • If a player has never been part of the chosen Covenant but they are currently part of a different Covenant, they will lose access to the old Covenant’s abilities, transmogs, and soulbinds. There are penalties for abandoning Covenants, so make sure to choose carefully. So if a players really loves the trasmogs for their WoW Warlock, Priest or other character, they should hold onto their Covenant to keep it.
  • If a player wishes to rejoin a Covenant that they once belonged to and abandoned, they will need to prove the loyalty before rejoining the old Covenant. Completing tasks in their zone will allow players to make amends for abandoning the World of Warcraft Covenant and allow them to rejoin.
  • For Raid – Night Fae
  • For Mythic+ – Night Fae

It’s hard to beat Ardenweald’s Night Fae Covenant for Resto Druids. The Night Fae’s class ability for resto is Convoke the Spirits, a cast that summons “the Night Fae for an eruption of energy, channeling a rapid flurry of 12 Druid spells and abilities over 4 sec.” It has a two-minute cooldown, but is so versatile and strong that the long timer doesn’t even matter. The flurry of spells doesn’t cost its caster any mana whatsoever, so players can get multiple Wild Growths in a raid or massive AOE Starfall damage with the side effect of some healing in a Mythic+ run.

  • For Raid – Kyrian
  • For Mythic+ – Kyrian

Not only is Bastion’s Kyrian aesthetically the best for Holy Paladins, but it’s also functionally the best too. Although the argument for Venthyr could also be made for Holy Paladins, Kyrian just offers more flexibility for both raiders and Mythic+ players. Divine Toll, the special ability for this spec and Covenant combination allows players to “Instantly cast Holy Shock, Avenger’s Shield, or Judgment on up to 5 targets within 30 yds (based on your current specialization).” This instant cast of Holy Power in raiding is one of the best panic buttons a Pally could ask for, while Divine Toll can be used either as a defensive or offensive tool while in Mythic+.

  • For Raid – Kyrian
  • For Mythic+ – Kyrian

Once again, while an argument could be made for the question-raising Maldraxxus‘ Necrolord for Mythic+ for Mistweavers, Kyrian just really nails the whole versatility thing. Any of the four Covenants will certainly boost a Monk’s healing ability inside or outside of raid or dungeon, but Kyrian’s Weapons of Order is an instant cast that really boosts what a Monk is capable of. For 30 seconds, Mistweaver is increased by almost 42 while the Essence Font cooldown is instantly reset, healing 6 nearby allies. In raid, that kind of healing is hard to beat. And Weapons of Order also boosts other masteries as well for the Monk and pairs excellently with Invoke Chi-Ji, making it a great choice.

  • For Raid – Venthyr
  • For Mythic+ – Kyrian

Venthyr is the Covenant for Disc Priests in both raid and Mythic+. Mindgames is a fantastic tool that not only can boost healing, but also drive enemies mad. It is a 1.5 second cast with a 45 second cooldown that slams the enemy with insanity, forcing their attacks to turn to healing, and their healing to turn into self-attacks. Mindgames also plays nicely with several other Priest spells, like Schism and Spirit Shell, to give burst healing and damage. This combination makes it great for raiding, and can be super useful not matter what a Shadowlands player chooses to do after hitting level 60.

  • For Raid – Necrolord
  • For Mythic+ – Necrolord

The Unholy Nova is the class-specific ability for Holy Priests in the Necrolords of Maldraxxus. While the thought of a Holy Priest as something called a Necrolord might seem a little contradictory, in practice, the Unholy Nova makes the nonsensical combination absolutely loveable. It not only infects enemies with a Shadow DoT, but also heals allies that damage those enemies while they take damage. This instant-cast is nearly impossible to beat. While the other Covenants have interesting abilities, Holy Priests will definitely want to settle on this one whether they plan to raid or dunegons like the Mists of Tirna Scithe Dungeon.

  • For Raid – Venthyr
  • For Mythic+ – Venthyr

For Resto Shamans in Shadowlands, there are several covenants that are great to be a part of. In all honesty, Necrolords, Venthyr, and even Kyrian are great for them. But Venthyr is favorite mostly because Chain Harvest is the most fun. It’s used to send a wave of Shadowland’s currency and power, anima, at the enemy, then jumps from target to target. And if the damage wasn’t enough, it also heals up to 5 allies as well. The combination of damage and healing is great for Mythic+, but also serves pretty well in raids too.
