Survivors of Heartwood Grove is a new quest introduced in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, and although it is simple on the surface, it’s been giving many players issues. This is mainly because of a bug which causes some of the quest objectives to not always appear on the map as they should. Otherwise, it’s fairly simple to complete just like other new quests in Shadowlands.
To initiate the quest, players will need to speak with Niya in Ardenweald and listen to her tale of fallen comrades. Additionally, this is part of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands‘ Waning Grove questline, so players will also want to have completed the five previous quests as well.
The big issue with this quest is that the objectives don’t always show up on the map like they are supposed to. This is a bug presumably, and there are a couple ways to get around it and complete the quest if this does happen. Just like many of the treasure chests in Shadowlands, these can be obtained whether the marker is there or not.
The first NPC that players need to find in the Night Fae covenant‘s realm is Warden Casad. This character is found nearby (coordinates are 69.80, 24.51), and interacting with it will complete this portion of the quest. Next, Te’zan can be found further on down the road in a cave. For those having trouble finding him, the specific coordinates are 68.95, 22.53. There are enemies near Te’zan, but it isn’t technically required to defeat them in order to free him. Finally, the last quest objective here is Wagonmaster Derawyn who is similarly guarded by enemies and can be found at 67.51, 23.20.
For those players that prefer to do things without tracking down coordinates, the quest objectives can be reinstated by logging out of World of Warcraft and then logging back in. Some players have reported that this solved the issue, while others claim it took several attempts before the quest markers were restored. Regardless, trying to clear a Shadowlands quest with no quest markers is difficult, as that’s much of the reason players are struggling with Trouble at the Gormling Corral, another quest in this area.
After saving all three NPCs, players can complete the quest by talking to Niya again. Thankfully, she follows the player around during this quest, so there’s no need to track her down again. This quest rewards a healthy chunk of experience, which should help players on their quest to reach level 60 in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.
World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is available now on PC.
