Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Every New Sea Creature for December 2020

December is here, which means new sea creatures coming to the deep ocean in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. For folks in the Northern Hemisphere, although the list may be a little underwhelming with only one new addition this month, it’s worth a pretty penny, just as it is in real life. But players in the Southern Hemisphere will have a few more new critters to look forward to this month.

It may be hard to believe that 2020 has been moving so quickly, with everything going on, but Animal Crossing: New Horizons released many months ago, back in March. This means that players are starting to see old bugs and fish that arrived to their islands earlier this year return again for the winter season. And although it’s officially winter, players can still take a dip in the oceans of Animal Crossing and catch some new sea creatures.

The month of December may be exciting in terms of new holiday activities and fun in the snow, but in terms of sea creatures, the list is a little less so. This month, the Lobster is the only new sea creature coming to Northern New Horizons players, and it was already available back between the months of April and June, so there may not be anything new to add to Blathers’ Museum this time around. However, it is worth a lot of Bells, priced at 4,500 at Nook’s Cranny. Other valuable sea critters like the Spiny Lobster, Snow Crab, Sea Pig, and Red King Crab can also still be caught this month for those trying to make bank.

The Southern Hemisphere Animal Crossing games, on the other hand, already have the Lobster on their islands and have a few more new additions this month that haven’t been yet seen in games for players in this region. The most valuable of the new additions is the Tiger Prawn, priced at 3,000 Bells, but the Lobster is also available in the Southern Hemisphere at its hefty price. Keep in mind, however, that the Lobster will leave these Animal Crossing players after December.

Below is a quick overview of all new sea creatures that arrive in the month of December for both Northern and Southern Hemispheres, as well as their catching description and price breakdowns.

Species: Selling Price | Size | Swimming Pattern | Time Available

  • Lobster: 4,500 Bells | Large | Fast | All day
  • Sea Grapes: 900 Bells | Small | Stationary | All day
  • Mussel: 1,500 Bells | Small | Slow consistent movement | All day
  • Abalone: 2,000 Bells | Medium | Moderate consistent movement | 4PM – 9AM
  • Gazami Crab: 2,200 Bells | Medium | Slow | All day
  • Tiger Prawn: 3,000 Bells | Small | Medium | 4PM – 9AM

At the end of the month, players can look forward to the annual Toy Day celebration, where the reindeer Jingle will come and ask the player to assist with giving gifts to villagers around the island.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out now for Nintendo Switch.
