Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Bug Makes Weapons Float

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has a weapon inspect feature that allows players to examine their loadout weapon to see the tiny details like camo, stickers, and charms. The feature was also implemented into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare through a patch after it was heavily requested by fans. However, a certain action while inspecting a weapon in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War produces a hilarious bug.

Fans have noticed that if they are holding a grenade, the weapon inspect feature will result in a floating ammo clip. When inspecting weapons, the soldier will examine it closely, then remove the ammo clip and load it back in. However, the soldiers in Black Ops Cold War do not have three hands, because if one is occupied by the grenade, the ammo clip is removed and reloaded without the solider touching it.

Fans have pointed out that the bug makes it seem like the player is using the Force like a Jedi, and many feel that since it does not affect gameplay the bug is harmless and should not be removed. Some fans even claim that the bug is intentional, inspired by reloading Easter eggs from other FPS shooters. Battlefield Hardline contained a number of secret reload animations, including a disappearing gun and using telekinesis to load ammo.

The most recent Battlefield 5 update added a similar Easter egg where players can find a book on the battlefield, read it, and then unlock the ability to levitate the M1 Garand while loading ammo. Because this was added so recently, many wonder if the floating ammo clip in Black Ops Cold War is actually a bug or not. Because it can only be done while holding a grenade, it seems the bug is most likely unintentional.

The floating ammo bug may be a little refreshing for players who have dealt with many of the game-breaking bugs including falling through the map, being suspended 100 feet in the air, or instantly dying. Since Black Ops Cold War has received many updates since launch, new bugs pop up often. Many of the bugs are addressed quickly based on how serious they are, so it seems players can enjoy the floating ammo bug for a little while while bigger problems are fixed.

Black Ops Cold War has been plagued with bugs, some of them serious like Xbox Series X crashes due to running a certain version of the title, while others like the floating ammo bug can be entertaining. A recent bug has not caused any game crashes, but automatically unlocks the Dark Matter camo – the most difficult camo to obtain.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
