During a recent Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War stream, Dr Disrespect shared his enjoyment playing the title, but expressed his disappointment with the number of multiplayer maps present in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War‘s release. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War only released last month, but notable only featured eight maps for multiplayer at launch.
Dr Disrespect shared his displeasure with the lack of maps, saying that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War should have launched with “fifteen in the game, minimum.” Many fans were also disappointed with the lack of maps, especially since the beta contained six maps, meaning that only two were added at launch.
Although Treyarch promises to release more maps along with future seasons, the lack of maps has fans waiting for fresh content and getting tired of those available. Season One starts on December 10, and is slated to introduce several new 6 vs. 6 maps, along with the integration with Call of Duty: Warzone. However, it is unlikely that the number of maps released will fit Dr Disrespect’s apparent minimum of fifteen maps.
Treyarch has already added the infamous Nuketown map, which has been featured in every Black Ops title with some sort of variation. In Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Nuketown ’84 is a rundown, junkyard version of the Nuketown map with the houses appearing as abandoned shacks riddled with graffiti. It is possible that more classic Black Ops maps will come to Black Ops Cold War following Nuketown.
When asked if he has any prototypes to send to Black Ops Cold War developers, The Doc responds, “I’m looking at a bag full of them.” Dr Disrespect may have some map ideas for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, but developers most likely have plenty of designs planned.
Dr Disrespect is always quick to bring up his map design expertise. The Twitch streamer is known for offering his services to developers, usually when he is unhappy with a map design. The Doc does have an impressive map design resume, previously working for Sledgehammer Games as a map designer on several Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare maps. Since leaving the position, Dr Disrespect has worked with Hi-Rez Studios to design a Rogue Company map and character model based on himself.
Recently, Dr Disrespect has also brought up map design when talking about video game awards. The Twitch streamer believes that video game award shows should acknowledge individuals working on games with awards, such as Best Multiplayer Map Design and Best Weapon Skin Design. Dr Disrespect has always been very opinionated, but it seems like many fans would agree with his disappointment with the number of Black Ops Cold War maps at launch.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
