A new cheap graphics card capable of ray-tracing hits the market.
Hardware giant Nvidia is releasing a brand new graphics card tomorrow.
The RTX 3060 Ti is being rolled out tomorrow, December 2 and costs just $399. The card is capable of the raytracing graphics tech and Nvidia says that this GPU is faster than the RTX 2080 Super card, which clocked in a $699.
“We’re entering a massive holiday season with ray-traced effects coming to Cyberpunk 2077, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Watch Dogs: Legion and more,” Nvidia’s VP of global GeForce marketing Matt Wuebbling said.
“There’s no better way for gamers to enjoy cutting-edge ray-traced games or powering through creative and productivity workflows than with the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, and the rest of the RTX 30 Series.”
Nvidia’s 3000 series of graphics cards was announced back in September. At the time, this boasted the RTX 3070, 3080 and 3090 GPUs. Reports ahead of the original reveal pointed to a cheaper 3060 card being unveiled after the initial 3000 series offerings.
In our review, we said that the 3070 GPU was “the new 1440p king – and great value for money.”
Of course, Nvidia isn’t just focused on graphics cards these days. The firm also runs the GeForce Now streaming service, which exited beta in February of this year. In September it also released the Nvidia Broadcast app, which uses artificial intelligence to improve audio and video quality. Oh, and it can key out the background of video, meaning you don’t need to invest in a greenscreen or anything like that. This is primarily aimed at streamers but overall a pretty neat offering.
