After a long wait, players in Pokemon GO will soon be able to catch Pokemon from the Kalos region, meaning that Pokemon GO is moving on to Pokemon‘s sixth generation. While not all of the sixth generation Pokemon will be introduced at once, a good number will be introduced when the Kalos update is rolled out.
When this update arrives, players in Pokemon GO will be able to find the Kalos starter trio in the wild alongside a few other Kalos Pokemon. These Pokemon additionally can be hatched from eggs with two specific Pokemon also starring as raid bosses in 1-Star raids.
So far, it only seems that the only raids Kalos Pokemon will be appearing in so far are the 1-Star raids. This however makes it open to most trainers who want to get their first Pokemon from the Kalos region without any hard searching or battling.
The two Pokemon that will be starring as 1-Star raid bosses are Litleo and Espurr. Both Pokemon originally appeared in Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, both have only two evolutionary stages, and both Pokemon’s evolutions have vastly different appearances based on the Pokemon’s gender.
Litleo is a dual Fire and Normal-type Pokemon that can evolve into Pyroar by using a currently unknown amount of Litleo candies. Pyroar is also a dual Fire and Normal-type Pokemon. Even before evolving, however, Litleo is capable of multiple helpful fire-type moves such as Fire Fang as a fast move and Flamethrower as a charge move.
Espurr is a pure psychic-type Pokemon that can evolve into Meowstic by using a currently unknown amount of Espurr candies. Just like its pre-evolved form, Meowstic is also a pure psychic-type Pokemon. Something very useful regarding Espurr is in it being able to learn Psychic as a charge move even before evolving.
While these two can be found and battled in the 1-Star raids after they are implemented, these aren’t the only methods of finding and catching these Pokemon. After the initial Kalos update is rolled out, Litleo can be both found in the wild along with other wild Pokemon as well as hatched from 2 km eggs. Espurr meanwhile cannot be found in the wild, but can be hatched from 10 km eggs alongside the Pokemon Noibat.
While both Litleo and Espurr’s gender differences are very obvious after they evolve into Pyroar and Meowstic, players should note that these differences are purely cosmetic. This means that the gendered appearances of Pyroar and Meowstic will have no effect on battles or any other mechanics.
Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
