Over four years since the popular augmented reality mobile game first launched, and Niantic’s Pokemon GO has finally added Kalos region Pokemon to the game. To celebrate the occasion, Niantic has confirmed a special Pokemon GO Kalos region event that will take place from Wednesday, December 2 at 10:00am local time to Tuesday, December 8 at 10:00pm local time, giving players about a week to start filling out their Kalos region Pokedex.
The Pokemon GO Kalos region event will see Kalos region Pokemon appear more frequently in the wild, including starter Pokemon Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie. Bunnelby, Fletchling, Litleo, and Noibat will also be seen out and about while players are playing Pokemon GO this week. Klefki, meanwhile, will be region-exclusive to Pokemon GO players in France, likely due to the Kalos region being based on France.
These Kalos region Pokemon will be available to catch in other ways besides just finding them in the wild. Pokemon GO players can expect to hatch Bunnelby, Fletchling, and Litelo from 2km eggs, whereas Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie will hatch from 5km eggs. 10km eggs, meanwhile, will give Pokemon GO players the chance to catch Espurr and Noibat. Litleo and Espurr will also be available in 1-star raids.
Pokemon GO‘s Kalos region event will also be adding some new Field Research and Timed Research that will give players the opportunity for additional encounters with the new Pokemon. Bunnelby and Fletchling specifically will be available in these encounters, and players will also earn other rewards, like Mega Energy for Blastoise, Charizard, and Venusaur. This is fitting since the Kalos region is the one that introduced the concept of Mega Evolution to Pokemon in the first place.
Besides the Kalo region event, Pokemon GO fans have a lot more to look forward to in December. The Pokemon GO Season of Celebration will last throughout the month of December, and will feature a 12 Days of Friendship event, new Pokemon in raids, and much more.
With Pokemon GO‘s revenue still high and the game being as popular as it ever was, fans can expect the new content to keep coming on a regular basis. The Pokemon GO Pokedex has nearly caught up with the main series games after four years, but there are still many Pokemon that have yet to be added, so fans shouldn’t worry about running out of things to do. For now, they can focus on the Season of Celebration and look forward to catching Pokemon GO‘s first Kalos region Pokemon.
Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
