Rainbow Six Siege: Neon Dawn Update Comes With Massive File Size

The new Rainbow Six Siege update Operation Neon Dawn is now live, and bringing a myriad of improvements and bug fixes to the game. Rainbow Six Siege’s new upgrades will also require a massive file size on available platforms to bring all the new changes to the game.

Rainbow Six Siege‘s Operation Neon Dawn will have a file size of 60 GB on PC, with the update taking up 35.90 GB on consoles. On top of tweaks to the game, reworked content, and changes to an operator, the Neon Dawn update will add next-generation upgrades to Siege, taking up 3.2 GB for Xbox Series S and Series X, and 5.38 GB on the PS5.

When OperationNeon Dawn was released, Ubisoft issued an addendum to the patch notes that explains the reason for the large file size, the reason being that the patch contains a large concentration of data files that reduce Rainbow Six Siege’s data footprint. This includes a reduction of disk space and the game’s build size, as well as improved loading times, too.

Still, the patch update is considerably large, even with the steps Ubisoft had taken. Along with the reduced data footprint, the Neon Dawn update will be adding a reworked version of the Rainbow Six Siege map Skyscraper into the game. The map will have many issues fixed by the time it goes live, such as the LOD issues, graphical errors, objects floating in the air, spawning issues for players, and more.

The update will also fix several issues with operator Aruni’s gameplay abilities. Some changes include Aruni’s melee attacks didn’t break certain surfaces, her deployable Surya Gate didn’t destroy certain gadgets when on walls, and the gate could even be picked up when it overloaded. The update will also fix many bugs for other playable operators, and Rainbow Six Siege’s overall gameplay, level design, and user experience, making it evident that the Neon Dawn update will be providing improvements to many aspects of the game.

While the game’s new update will certainly have a large file size, Ubisoft is making sure the added benefits will outweigh the extra space it takes up. This is not too out of the ordinary, as other recent releases have had large file sizes, too, like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Players will soon be able to see for themselves how much Rainbow Six Siege: Operation Neon Dawn improves their overall experience.

Rainbow Six: Siege is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
