The Red Dead Online community boasts a lot of passionate and creative players, including those who are passionate about multiple games and create fan crossovers. One Red Dead Online player used the game to pay homage to the iconic Irish immigrant Shay Cormac from Assassin’s Creed Rogue.
Red Dead Online‘s character creator offers players the chance to customize their cowboy, and acquiring clothing and items in-game can make that character even more unique. Some people log even more hours doing their dailies and amassing resources in Red Dead Online than they do in Red Dead Redemption 2, although many people would argue that both games have plenty of replay value. The vibrant and detailed world Rockstar Games created has many people still finding Easter eggs and hidden intricacies two years after the game’s release date.
Reddit user ShoddyCover posted some images in the Red Dead Redemption subreddit that show off their rendition of Shay Cormac in Red Dead Online. In-game, Shay was a deadly killer as part of the Colonial Rite of the Templars, which he joined after betraying and leaving the Assassins. While he doesn’t appear in Red Dead Online, he’s one of the less common characters from the Assassin’s Creed games who spent much of their time in North America, which is where Red Dead Online takes place, being a cowboy-themed game.
The images show off Shay’s short ponytail and black and red outfit, which includes a black coat and pants with red accents, like a red sash. Many players familiar with Assassin’s Creed Rogue will easily be able to recognize this creation as Shay, and it’s clear that the user put a lot of time into checking the details of Shay’s clothes in Assassin’s Creed Rogue and doing a recreation in Red Dead Online.
The title of the post references two of the tenets of the assassins themselves, and attributes them as a quote to “Shay Morgan,” combining Shay Cormac’s name with that of Arthur Morgan, the popular protagonist of Red Dead Redemption 2. The photoset shows off Shay pulling out his pistols, knife, and fighting another man while wearing a black covering over his mouth.
The comments on the post were filled with people calling Assassin’s Creed Rogue underrated, with a lot of fans saying more people should play it. Some people even called for an Assassin’s Creed game set in the wild west like Red Dead Online is, which is not the first time someone has asked for this setting.
Red Dead Online is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. Assassin’s Creed Rogue is available now on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
