Walking Dead TV show boss: The Last of Us series has “amazing creators” involved

And he isn’t concerned about rivalry between his show and the upcoming TV adaptation of Naughty Dog’s hit.

The man in charge of The Walking Dead TV show Scott Gimple has praised the team behind PlayStation blockbuster The Last of Us.

Speaking to Insider, the show’s chief creative officer said that he thought Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us was “an amazing game.”

The upcoming HBO TV show adaption of the apocalyptic romp is likely going to be launching alongside the 11th and final series of The Walking Dead show in 2022, but Gimple has said he isn’t concerned about the two running concurrently.

“We didn’t think about potentially splitting the walker vote,” Gimple said.

“It’s an amazing game. There are some amazing creators that have gotten involved in it and I think it’s incredibly different than The Walking Dead. It’s a very, very different take.”

News that HBO was working on a The Last of Us TV show broke in March, with Chernobyl’s Craig Mazin at the helm. Mazin has said that the plan is to expand the world of the game in the series. The TV adaptation is set to feature a “jaw drop” moment from the original 2013 game that was cut from the final release.

Meanwhile, Troy Baker – the voice actor who gives life to Last of Us protagonist Joel Miller – has said he’d love to appear in the show and be blown up.

The Last of Us Part 2 was released in June of this year and smashed sales record for Sony’s first-party releases.
