Amazon offers PS5s to customers who had orders replaced with random items

Customers are finally getting what they paid for.

Amazon has contacted customers who received odd orders like catfood and rice instead of PS5s, offering them priority on a new batch of consoles.

Customers who have ordered the PS5 off of Amazon have been having a rough time since the console launched. Many ordered were extended into December past the console’s launch day. Even more bizarre, some customers have been receiving shipments of rice and cat food instead of their expected next-gen consoles.

This appeared to be a part of a theft somewhere during the delivery process. Amazon did refund those orders and promised to make them right at the time.

Finally, there is a reprieve. For those who did get another item instead of a PS5, Amazon is contacting them to say that they have first pick on a new batch of PS5 consoles. As pointed out by PushSqure’s managing director Anthony Dickens, Amazon contacted him about a bungled order, offering him the right to be the first to reserve a new unit. He said:

As Eurogamer reports, it appears other affected customers have also been receiving similar emails. The users are prompted to get in contact with customer support and authorise a new payment for the console. After that, the order should be renewed.

You will need to be in touch with Amazon to renew your order by the end of December 5.

The email does make it clear that this order is in no way transferable and consumers will be unable to increase the number of consoles they bought.
