Enad Global 7 (EG7) is continuing to make a name for itself in the gaming industry through a series of strategic acquisitions. Most recently the company has now acquired Daybreak Game Company, best known for popular titles like EverQuest, H1Z1, and DC Universe Online. The company also served as publisher for some other MMOs, including Dungeons and Dragons Online and The Lord of the Rings Online.
For those that aren’t familiar with it, EG7 is a family of companies focused on developing, publishing, and marketing games throughout the world. As of this most recent acquisition of Daybreak Game Company, it now owns 10 different companies worldwide, and continues to grow through acquisitions like this one.
The deal saw EG7 pay $300 million for Daybreak Game Company, though some of that was in the form of newly issued shares for EG7. It’s not entirely clear how this will affect employees at Daybreak Game Company, as EG7 has yet to comment on whether anyone will be laid off as a result of the acquisition. What’s more, Daybreak Game Company owned some studios of its own, so the fate of those is also uncertain at the moment.
Most notably, Cold Iron was acquired by Daybreak earlier this year, so it may be making the move over to EG7 as well. If this does happen, it will mark the fifth time Cold Iron has changed owners in the last two years, which may have an effect on the development of its upcoming Alien game. Time will tell how EG7 decides to make use of its new acquisition and if it continues on its shopping spree for companies.
Daybreak Game Company is now owned by EG7.
