Rocket League Split-Screen Fix Coming to Switch With Season 2

Rocket League’s free-to-play update this summer was one of the biggest yet for the massively popular multiplayer cars-meets-soccer game. And with this huge update came a lot of big changes, including the introduction of seasons, a Rocket Leaguestyled battle pass ripe with rewards, and more.

With so many changes, it’s no surprise that the game began to experience its fair share of issues and bugs upon the release of the large update. One bug in particular however, completely removed a feature of the game from the Nintendo Switch version and has yet to be fixed.

Ever since Rocket League went free-to-play on September 23rd, players of the game on Nintendo Switch have been completely unable to play the game in its split-screen multiplayer mode. And although Psyonix announced that a fix for the bug was in the works as soon as players reached out about it, it seems that the feature-removing bug will finally be fixed with the release of Rocket League‘s 2nd in-game season.

Official confirmation on when the bug will be fixed came on December 1st in the form of a Reddit reply by a Psyonix Community Manager on a post detailing the upcoming features of Rocket League Season 2. Additionally, one Reddit user inquired as to whether they could expect split-screen multiplayer to make a return on Nintendo Switch come Season 2, to which the Psyonix Community Manager reassured that it would, nearly 3 months after the strange disappearance of the feature.

The move to make Rocket League free-to-play was incredibly successful, helping the game reach one million concurrent players just one day after it went free-to-play. The game is just one of a now plethora of free-to-play titles available on a variety of platforms, joining the ranks of battle royale blockbusters such as FortniteApex LegendsCall of Duty: Warzone, and more. Although Rocket League has now been around for over 5 years, it has managed to keep a steady player base with its eSports-oriented gameplay and regular releases of new content.

While the game has already made the jump to next-gen consoles, players of the game on Nintendo Switch can rest assured that they’ll be able to hand off a joy-con to their player 2 of choice once again very soon. For the time being, fans of the game eagerly await to see what surprises Season 2 of Rocket League might hold in store when it releases on December 9th.
