Players can craft an assortment of Legendary Armor in World of Warcraft‘s Shadowlands expansion with the assistance of the Runecarver, an NPC located in Torghast. Fans can also upgrade these Legendaries, though they may not be fully clear on exactly how that is done. Fortunately, upgrading Legendary Armor in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands is a very straightforward process, and it will be detailed in full in this short guide.
To note, this guide will presume that the reader is already familiar with how to craft Legendary Armor in Shadowlands and has made a piece of their own. Additionally, it will presume that the piece has not been crafted at max Rank, which will give it an iLevel of 235, as it is simply not possible to upgrade Legendary Armor beyond that point. If all of these presumptions are accurate, players should feel free to continue on to learn more about Legendary Armor upgrades.
Fans need just three things in order to upgrade Legendary Armor in Shadowlands: the already-crafted Legendary, a Rune Vessel of the same type but a higher Rank, and the relevant amount of Soul Ash. While players that have previously made a piece of Legendary Armor should have a fairly solid understanding of these items, the idea of Ranks may call for some further clarification. To put things simply, crafters can create Rune Vessels at four different Ranks, and those Ranks have a direct impact on the Legendary Armor’s Item Level:
- Rank 1: iLevel 190
- Rank 2: iLevel 210
- Rank 3: iLevel 225
- Rank 4: iLevel 235
It is also worth mentioning that using a Rank 4 Rune Vessel to create a max Rank piece of Legendary Armor straightaway costs the same amount of Soul Ash as it does to create a Rank 1 piece and then upgrade it to Rank 4. That amount is 5,150, which means that it will take WoW players several weeks to accumulate the Soul Ash required for a Rank 4 Legendary, regardless of which approach they use. That said, fans that choose to upgrade will spend some additional Gold or materials on Rune Vessels.
With all of this established, players can now take their items to the Runecarver, who will walk them through the upgrading process. This will be quite intuitive and simply requires fans to place their new Rune Vessel below their Legendary in a straightforward interface. They will then click the Upgrade button, and, assuming that the player has the appropriate amount of Soul Ash, the new Legendary will be generated from there.
World of Warcraft is available now for PC.
