You Can Now Pre-Load Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox Consoles | Game Rant

The almost decade-long wait for Cyberpunk 2077 is just about over, and by this time next week, the game might be the talk of the industry, for better or worse. Fans on Xbox who are preparing for the monumental launch of Cyberpunk 2077 can finally pre-load the game on their consoles and gain a real sense that the game is almost here.

Players who have pre-ordered Cyberpunk 2077 digitally can start their install today, the same way they would with any digital game. However, players who pre-ordered a physical version of Cyberpunk 2077 can also install the game early through the Xbox App. Earlier this year, the Xbox App introduced a new feature that would allow Xbox users to download games before purchasing them, meaning players would have the game ready to go for when they get their physical copy.

Players who haven’t pre-ordered the game through the Xbox Store but are looking to get a headstart by installing the game early, ensuring they won’t have to wait for it to install on launch day, simply need to find Cyberpunk 2077 on the Xbox App, click the button that says “download to console,” and select the console where they want the download. If the download isn’t showing right away, players will need to restart the console and the download should show up.

This headstart on installing is going to help out a lot of players when Cyberpunk 2077 releases. Currently, the file size for Cyberpunk 2077 is pretty hefty, but not as massive as other games that launched this year like Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Reddit user u/rukazi93 shared a screenshot of their download that showed a download size of roughly 60GB on Xbox. Although, the game may be closer to 72GB on Playstation consoles, according to the PlayStation Game Size Twitter account.

While this initial file size for Cyberpunk 2077 is modest in today’s terms, this is the game’s size for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles. Once Cyberpunk 2077 drops the free update on next-gen consoles, the file size on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 could skyrocket to account for the new features available on the next-gen consoles.

It’s been a long and winding road for Cyberpunk 2077 and fans waiting patiently to step into Night City to experience the world crafted by CD Projekt Red. Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed three separate times throughout 2020 alone, and the dreaded “yellow delay announcement” image on the game’s official Twitter account has put fear in fans anticipating this colossal title. But finally, it seems that fans are truly on the verge of having Cyberpunk 2077 in their possession and will close out 2020 exploring Night City.

Cyberpunk 2077 releases December 10 on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions in development.
