The release of the PlayStation 5 has been Sony’s biggest launch ever for one of its home consoles, and one of the most acclaimed titles is the remake of Demon’s Souls. The remake boasts a fully remade adventure that promises to be as brutal and unforgiving as the 2009 original.
Demon’s Souls was the first entry to the Soulsborne series, which later spawned the Dark Souls trilogy and Bloodborne as well. The bread and butter of these games are their epic boss fights which force players to sit on the edge of their seat as they chip away at those health bars.
The final boss of the Archstone of the Digger King, Demon’s Souls second world, is the Dragon God. Fans might recognize the Dragon God as the foe from the opening title sequence and he is as giant as his presence seems. While some bosses like the dreaded Phalanx require players to make clever use of specific weaknesses, the Dragon God will have fans utilizing their stealth skills instead. While the strategy itself is fairly straightforward, the execution takes a bit of preparation and know-how.
One thing to note is fans should not worry too much about their class or build during this boss fight, as this fight really only requires either a decent magic projectile or a melee weapon. Once the player has entered the Dragon God’s arena, they’ll see just how tight his quarters are. However, heading to the end of the hallway and veering right will place the player in front of some rubble which they need to destroy with either their magic projectiles or a sturdy weapon in order to progress. Make sure to hide behind the well placed pillars to avoid the Dragon God’s gaze as one hit will likely force players to restart.
After a series of breaking down rubble and hiding, players will eventually come across a glowing ballista, which they can use to take out about 45% of the Dragon God’s health as the bolt knocks itself into the demon’s arm. After this, continue on down the path making sure to hide behind pillars and breaking down more rubble until the second ballista is found, this will take out another 45% of the Dragon God’s health and force him to tumble head first into an easy to hit area where the last bit of health is but a few swipes away to earn the trophy for destroying the beast.
Keep in mind that once he’s down, his fiery breath will cause damage so don’t get too cocky during this last section. Simply take opportunistic hits until his health bar is drained, and while there is no easy mode in Demon’s Souls, hopefully this guide will take some of the toll off this boss fight.
Demon’s Souls is available now on PlayStation 5.
