Dragon Age 4 Confirmed for The Game Awards 2020 | Game Rant

Although the existence of the series’ upcoming fourth entry is far from a secret, the newest iteration of the Dragon Age franchise has been something of a mystery for quite some time now. However, BioWare has announced that it will be ready to talk more candidly about the follow-up to its seminal RPG series in just a matter of days, with Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards slated to debut new details about the sequel.

Confirming the fact through a tweet, Geoff Keighley revealed that BioWare will be offering a “special look” at Dragon Age 4 during his December 10 event. What exactly this new insight into the upcoming game will be is still unclear, but it seems wise to imagine that the studio will tease exactly what to expect from BioWare during the coming generation.

Seeing as The Game Awards has fast become a platform for a number of significant studios to debut fresh trailers, players could potentially see a little more of the game and the direction BioWare looks to be taking it at the showcase. Of course, it’s worth remembering that the sequel is apparently still a ways away, with an EA fiscal earnings call earlier this year hinting that Dragon Age 4 is currently slated for 2022. Still, fans will be excited to hear that they’ll get some fresh news about the upcoming RPG when tuning into Geoff Keighley’s annual video game celebration.

The news comes hot off the heels of yesterday’s announcement that Mark Darrah, the Dragon Age franchise’s executive producer, has left BioWare. Darrah was a substantial part of Dragon Age: Origins, Dragon Age 2, and Dragon Age: Inquisition, so it’ll be interesting to see how the latest Dragon Age project develops with new Executive Producer Christian Dailey taking the wheel. The studio’s General Manager Casey Hudson also departed the studio, with BioWare currently searching for a replacement.

Dragon Age 4 will slot alongside a number of games looking to make some big announcements during the show, with Among Us set to debut a new map, Fall Guys slated to talk about its upcoming third season, and fans even speculating that Elden Ring could make an appearance. It will fit quite nicely into the shuffle, getting a big platform to talk more about what players can expect from the franchise’s future. Whatever BioWare’s upcoming showcase focuses on, it sure to capture the attention of Dragon Age fans across the world.

Dragon Age 4 is currently in development.
