Bounties are a new feature in Fortnite Season 5, and there are several reason to take them on. One of those reasons at the time of writing is that there is a Fortnite Season 5 Week 1 challenge that instructs players to complete Bounties, and there is XP to be earned for doing so. That said, some fans may be slightly confused about how the Bounty system works in Fortnite, and this guide is here to provide full details.
The first step to completing a Bounty is to accept one, and that can be done by speaking with one of the new characters in Fortnite Season 5. In total, there are 40 of these NPCs scattered across the map, and players will see a text bubble icon on their mini-maps when they are near one. However, not every character in the game can be used to initiate and Bounty, and fans that are focused on trying to complete them, for a challenge or otherwise, are thus advised to visit specific NPCs.
One of the characters that will always offer a Bounty is named Mancake, and he can be found in the Butter Barn just south of the center of Fortnite‘s map. Upon interacting with Mancake, a few options will appear at the bottom of the screen, and one of those options will be focused on eliminating an enemy player. Fans should simply accept this request, which requires just two clicks, to start the Bounty and an associated timer that appears at the top left of the screen.
Indeed, players now have just six minutes to track and eliminate their target, which means that they should move quickly to the yellow circle that appears on both the map and mini-map. This yellow circle designates the area that the enemy player is within, and the fan that is holding the Bounty in Fortnite must dispatch them once located. Notably, the circle does move if the target tries to run, making it difficult to escape a confrontation with a dedicated bounty hunter.
With respect to what players will earn for successfully completing a Bounty, Gold Bars in Fortnite are the reward. These Gold Bars can be given to the aforementioned NPCs in exchange for new guns, weapon upgrades, and more, making them a reasonably valuable currency. Fans do not need to spend their Bars immediately upon receiving them, though, as they are retained across matches and can thus be saved for larger purchases.
Fortnite is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, and Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
