After first showing its high-end gaming desktop at CES 2020, Razer has revealed the initial details for the compact PC’s release. This could be an especially impactful release for PC players looking to pick up a brand new rig that’s already pre-optimized to make the same jump to Next-Gen that consoles like Xbox Series X recently made in November.
The PC itself, Razer‘s new Tomahawk Compact Gaming Desktop, won several awards and accolades when it was first revealed at CES 2020 back in January. One top of being one of the most powerful gaming PCs available, the Tomahawk is also looking to be an asset for professionals and creators in need of a high-end rig
Pre-orders for the Tomahawk will first be available later in December 2020, with the new PC itself fully releasing at a later date. The price, while in the standard ballpark for Razer’s PC products and accessories, starts at $2399.99, making it a significant investment for anyone looking for a professional-level rig. However, that price does come with a PC that is packed with high-end tech, including a 512GB SDD combined with a 2TB HDD, an Intel i9 Processor, and even an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 in some models of the desktop.
When the Tomahawk was initially shown off at CES, it premiered alongside a line of products that managed to bring in the Best of CES Award, something that Razer boasts to have won five times. So, the tech developer does have a history of quality that might justify the high price for those on the fence. However, those who may want to upgrade down the line (or just maintain their rig) will be happy to know that the Razer Tomahawk sports a toolless chassis that allows users to slide the individual components out of Razer’s upcoming product in order to rework the rig as new technology arrives.
The PC itself has the same promise of quality that much of Razer’s gaming accessories hold, so gamers are likely to be pleased with what they get from the Tomahawk Compact Gaming Desktop. Additionally, while the price might be a barrier to entry for some gamers, the ability to customize means that the investment will likely be longer lasting than most console generations, as it can be modified to futureproof. Pre-orders may go quickly, especially considering the high-end components inside of the rig, so fans and professionals may want to keep an eye out for when they can snag an order for themselves.
