Rocket League Season 2 Rocket Pass Trailer Revealed | Game Rant

Ever since it went free-to-play this past September, popular cars-meets-soccer game Rocket League has found great success in its new model. Introducing a new seasons mechanic as well as its own battle pass known as the Rocket Pass, the game has ditched its $20 price tag and put itself in the ranks of free-to-play battle royale games such as Fortnite and Apex Legends.

Already jumping to next-gen platforms with full optimization for the new hardware, Rocket League seems to be intent on keeping recurrent players coming back to the game as much as possible. And allowing for players to grind out Rocket League‘s own battle pass in its first free-to-play season has only offered more replayability of the popular multiplayer game.

With just a few days to go until Rocket League Season 2 releases on December 9th, a trailer showcasing some of the season’s unlockable Rocket Pass items has been released. The trailer bears a heavy vaporwave aesthetic, accompanied by the song “Solid Ground” by Kaskade, part of the huge collaboration between Rocket League and Canadian independent electronic music record label, Monstercat.

The new trailer immediately showcases the season’s slick new car, R3MX, which can be unlocked immediately upon purchasing Rocket Pass Premium. The trailer also heavily plays off of Season 2’s new music theme, noting that over 70 tiers can be unlocked in the new Rocket Pass, showing new beat-synced wheels, trails, decals, and more. Additionally, players who purchase Season 2’s Rocket Pass Premium will gain access to special XP boosts and extra Rocket League Weekly and Seasonal Challenges to partake in.

While the new trailer doesn’t show everything that Rocket League‘s Season 2 Rocket Pass has to offer, it leaves fans with a sizable taste of what’s to come. This new season also introduces the Neon Fields Arena, and a first for the game, Player Anthems, which will allow players to choose a song from the game’s ever-growing library of pumping electronic music to play upon them scoring a goal.

Fans have already begun expressing their excitement for the new music-themed season in the comments section of the new trailer, with some even pointing out that the trailer showcased one car performing a Musty Flick, a move named after professional Rocket League player, amustycow. With the recent confirmation that the game’s split-screen multiplayer mode will finally be returning to the Nintendo Switch version of Rocket League, players are clearly amped up and ready to get loud with this new season.

Rocket League is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
