Around the globe, some gamers are still having difficulty getting their hands on PS5s. One Sony fan even waited outside a GameStop for 36 hours to finally play the new generation of video games. But for one YouTuber, instead of gaming in all its high-resolution glory, he fed his PS5 to a shredder like an afternoon snack.
Where would the gaming community be without its fair share of console destruction news? Upon Genshin Impact‘s initial announcement, a fan was so upset over the “Breath of the Wild clone” that he furiously smashed his PS4 at the press conference. More recently, a YouTuber by the name of Mega64 destroyed his PS5 and attempted to return it to GameStop, claiming it was “nonfunctional,” after he realized he purchased a digital-edition of the console instead of one that had a disc drive. For YouTuber Captain Crunch Experiments, his videos are more for science than they are for rage.
Following up on his successful videos, like putting a yellow Minion from Despicable Me or the faces of celebrities through the shredder, Captain Crunch’s more recent videos have him sending an entire brand new PlayStation 5 console, including the DualSense controller, through the shredder.
He starts off slow, first putting the box and series of instruction manuals in, creating a very satisfying crunching noise. But then, he tosses the DualSense controller in, and after a short moment of it bouncing around on top, the shredder eats it in mere seconds. The cables, of course, are also quite easy for the shredder to munch on. After a series of the device violently eating each piece of plastic found inside the PS5 box, and the cardboard box itself, it’s finally time for the main course: the PlayStation 5.
Unfortunately, the shredder can’t quite eat the console whole, so Captain Crunch somewhat disassembles it before sending the main computerized hardware through, and it reverberates with horrible cracking and crunching noises. The shredder doesn’t eat the PS5 as easily either; it gets stuck a number of times before the whole thing is completely destroyed.
Captain Crunch is also giving away his free extra PS5 if the video can get to one million views. So for those who are still having trouble getting their hands on a PS5—and don’t plan on sending it into a shredder—consider leaving a comment on one of his PS5 YouTube videos.
