Next Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC Fighters Get Reveal Date

With many fighting game fanatics excited for new next-gen titles like Guilty Gear Strive, thanks to backwards compatibility older fighting games will still very much thrive going forward. One of those games is Dragon Ball FighterZ which still holds immense popularity among players and viewers. Since the 2018 high-octane anime fighter still has to finish out its current DLC plans, players now know when to expect the next big reveal.

Bandai Namco confirms that the announcement of the next character to join the ranks of Dragon Ball FighterZ is imminent. The publisher announced that the Arc System Works developed anime fighter will reveal the next character for DLC Pass 3 on December 20.

The announcement will take place on the same day as Japan’s Dragon Ball FighterZ National Champion playoffs, as confirmed by producer Tomoko Hiroki. The announcement will come during the finals of the national tournament with Hiroki further stating that players can expect the fourth character of FighterZ‘s third season pass to release sometime in January 2021.

There isn’t much to go on as to which Dragon Ball character will enter the battle but many have placed predictions on FighterZ‘s possible Season 3 inclusions. The clue most fans are gravitating towards is the background color used for the characters on official placeholder artwork. By looking through the Nintendo eShop, players noticed specific colors for backgrounds that could have been used to deduce who the next character would be. With the upcoming fourth character attached to a Green background, many are thinking it may be a new Namekian.

While there is an undeniable breadth of characters that could take the spot out of the massive Dragon Ball franchise cast, most are pointing at Pikkon from Dragon Ball Z‘s Other World Saga. With the Namekian fighter matching the color scheme, it may be a safe bet. While it might seem like a stretch, fans had previously predicted that Master Roshi would join Dragon Ball FighterZ simply based on the yellow background.

While the next character entry for the still popular Dragon Ball FighterZ will remain a mystery for the next two weeks, the same cannot be said for another Bandai Namco published anime fighting game. Jump Force‘s next DLC characters were leaked and subsequently confirmed by Bandai Namco. This wasn’t the first time the 2019 anime-arena fighter had characters leak, which has often removed the excitement for a game that has endless options from the Shonen Jump archive. Luckily Dragon Ball FighterZ has not met a similar fate with the guessing game continuing for the next two weeks.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
