Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game Complete Edition Release Date Announced

The side-scrolling beat ’em up Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game earned decent reviews at the time of its release and was generally well-regarded by fans of the franchise. Unfortunately, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game was de-listed in December 2014, and with no physical version available, it essentially meant that many people were simply unable to play the game.

After years of fan demand, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game publisher Ubisoft is finally bringing it back with the Complete Edition. And while many had hoped that Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game – Complete Edition would be out by the end of the year, they’ll have to wait a little longer than expected. It’s been announced that the Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game release date is January 14, 2021, so fans will be able to revisit it in about a month’s time.

For those who may not be aware, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game is a remaster of the original release that bundles the base game with its DLC packs. The first Scott Pilgrim DLC pack makes Knives Chau a playable character, plus it adds the Battle Royal and Dodge Ball game modes. The second DLC Pack makes Wallace Wells a playable character, but doesn’t add any new game modes. In any case, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game – Complete Edition will ensure fans get the full Scott Pilgrim game experience, though it won’t have much in the way of new content or features.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game – Complete Edition will be available for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One come its January 14, 2021 release date. Fans will notice that there doesn’t appear to be a next-gen version of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game in development, which is somewhat odd considering both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles are now available. Of course, the game will still be playable on the new systems thanks to their backward compatibility, but it’s unclear why Ubisoft has decided to skip the PS5 and Xbox Series X, especially since it has already released multiple games for them.

Something else that’s unclear about Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game – Complete Edition is why original creator Bryan O’Malley is not involved with the remaster. In fact, O’Malley wasn’t even aware that a remaster of the game was in the works until Ubisoft made the official announcement.

In any case, here’s hoping Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game doesn’t get de-listed like the original did, but anyone interested may want to secure their copy ASAP just in case.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game – Complete Edition launches January 14, 2021 for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
