Much like its 2018 predecessor Marvel’s Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is getting a physical release of the game’s music in the form of double vinyl.
Both of Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man titles have been generally well-received by critics and fans alike, garnering high Metacritic scores. Spider-Man: Miles Morales has avoided the dreaded sophomore slump, so much so that many fans of the game believe Miles Morales deserves a full Spider-Man sequel.
Announced via IGN, the vinyl will be available on the Mondo website later this week. Pre-orders for the soundtrack will begin on Wednesday, December 9. The $35 price tag will get gamers impressive cover artwork by Chun Lo and a choice of either two 180 Gram colored vinyls or black vinyl.
This includes the score by composer John Paesano, in addition to Lecrae’s “Where We Come From” and “This Is My Time” and Jaden’s “I’m Ready”, which has its own music video. The music of Spider-Man: Miles Morales is one of the most particularly loved aspects of the game for many, so seeing it make the jump to a physical release is certainly a sensible move. Jaden specifically continues to be a collaborator with Miles Morales-related media, also featuring on the soundtrack for the 2018 film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. In fact, Miles’ game and film universes may be more interconnected than gamers think. According to a recent interview with Into the Spider-Verse 2 producer and story writer Chris Lord, some famously weird Spider-Man: Miles Morales glitches could be in the next movie.
The $35 dollar price tag certainly makes this an affordable purchase or gift for the Spider-Man fan in players’ lives. The colored vinyls include a blue-and-red Spidey theme, along with a purple-and-green disc reminiscent of the Green Goblin. Although, it’s worth mentioning that this is hardly the only video game soundtrack getting an upcoming vinyl release. The Nintendo cult classic Earthbound is receiving a vinyl soundtrack in early 2021, reinforcing the fact that vinyl is on the rise, evidently beating out CD sales for the first time in over 30 years.
While Spider-Man: Miles Morales has only been out for a few weeks, many players have already completed its roughly 12-hour campaign. However, there are lots of things in the game that only makes sense those that read the Spider-Man comics, so players who don’t have record players can invest in some of the source material instead.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available now for PS4 and PS5.
