In a new crossover between Among Us and the streaming giant Twitch, players will be able to get a free pet based on the Twitch icon. The crossover will run from December 4th through 18th to promote the Twitch Rivals Among Us Showdown.
Among Us is a cultural sensation, even making a greater impact among elected officials as they raise money for charity. It makes sense that the largest streaming service would want to collaborate with the gaming phenomenon. Adding a pet is a perfect way to do so. Usually, players would have to pay extra for a cosmetic pet. This marks the first time players will be able to get a pet for free. For Twitch users who have ever received drops before on Twitch, the process is very similar. After going through the process, players will get a new addition to their collection of adorable mini-crewmates and cute alien-themed pets.
Since Twitch revealed the limited-time Glitch pet (Glitch is the affectionate name given to the Twitch icon), to coincide with the Twitch Rivals Among Us Showdown streams, players should plan on spending a little bit of time to get a Glitch for themselves. Thankfully, how to get the Glitch pet is pretty easy.
Twitch Rivals is the place for competitive events featuring popular streamers, and viewers love to watch streamers play Among Us. Fans will need to watch any of the Twitch Rivals Among Us Showdown streams as they happen through December 18th. Typically, after about 30 minutes of watch time, users will receive the free pet in their Drops Inventory on the site. If users are still watching the stream, they will be able to claim the drop directly from the chat panel. Once users have the drop, it will be time to link the two accounts.
This step can be done once users have already received the Twitch drop, or pre-emptively before the next Twitch Rivals Among Us Showdown. Pull up the Among Us game, and open up settings by clicking on the cog icon. After moving over to the Data tab, players will notice a Twitch icon on the lower part of the screen.
After clicking on the Twitch icon, users will be directed to log in to Twitch and authorize Among Us Drops.
The two accounts should now be linked. The Twitch Glitch pet will then be added to players’ Among Us cosmetic options as long as they have watched enough of the streams. Again, it looks like players will have to wait until later in the month to actually use the pet in-game. On the bright side, players will be able to run around with their new pet on the new map that will be revealed at The Game Awards on December 10th.
