In less than two days, Cyberpunk 2077 will finally be launching worldwide. After being hyped up for the better part of eight years, for some in the gaming community, the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 is finally releasing after all this time is almost hard to believe. To hype up its audience even more, CD Projekt Red has put out a new piece of promotional material intended to showcase what the game has to offer.
From the very beginning, players knew that Cyberpunk 2077 was going to be an expansive experience, but for many players, the world of Night City may be much grander than they initially anticipated. The official launch trailer that was put out earlier today certainly conveys itself as such.
The trailer largely focuses on V, Cyberpunk 2077’s playable character, and how they interact with the characters and world of the game. It’s clear that a lot of time and attention was taken in terms of integrating V into the world of the game and it will be interesting to see how the playable character interacts with the people around them.
Unlike other trailers and promotional material, this one feels much more atmospheric and emotional comparatively. In the past, when advertising Cyberpunk 2077, the vibe is typically very chaotic and intense, almost similar to last year’s Rage 2 in some aspects of its advertising. Whereas, with this trailer, things seem much more immersive and compelling from a narrative perspective, which is pretty exciting all things considered.
Many details regarding the overarching narrative of Cyberpunk 2077 have been made public, such as how Keanu Reeves’ character Johnny Silverhand relates to the game’s story, but as far as finer details go, not much else is necessarily known in terms of what kind of story this game wants to tell. Then again, this trailer gives viewers a sense that the game’s narrative will have much more depth than what some people have given the game credit for.
In any case, it will be interesting to see how well this game performs, especially after being hyped for so long. While some reviewers have criticized the game due to bugs, presumably these bugs will be fixed as a direct result of Cyberpunk 2077’s Day One patch. Luckily, fans won’t have to wait much longer before enjoying all that the game has to offer.
Cyberpunk 2077 is set to launch on December 10th, 2020 on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S adaptations currently in development.
