The world turns, and Fortnite continues. While the professional scene is suffering due to an understandable lack of upcoming in-person Fortnite events, the game is still thriving in a monolithic way.
Season five of Fortnite Chapter 2 has taken off with many changes to the previous Marvel crossover formula. The map has shifted somewhat and now comes complete with NPCs and a big glowing center. While the competitive scene is sleeping, players still have lots of opportunities to rack up XP and earn the rewards that come with it. For those looking to level up fast in Fortnite‘s fifth season, here’s a quick guide of what to focus on.
In order to really level up fast in Fortnite Season 5, players must first understand the change to the challenge system. Rather than the older, limited Challenges, players now have Quests. These come in two flavors: regular Quests and Legendary Quests. As their name suggests, Legendary Quests are more difficult and reward a substantial amount of XP. They are also available only once a week, and should be prioritized before other tasks.
Regular Quests, however, are unlimited. Any time one is completed, a new one becomes available. For a player looking to dedicate all their time to levelling up, these should be prioritized when Legendary Quests and Milestones are done. Things like defeating Ruckus may be one-time Quests, but making kills with certain weapons can always be repeated. These will widen a player’s skillset if they devote enough time to them as well, so they can always be worth doing.
Milestones are similar to the old Punch Card system. These are hidden tasks that will be completed by doing rather mundane stuff like walking or swimming certain distances. Yep, players can progress the journey to the Upgraded Mandalorian Armor just by doing random stuff. Many will be unlocked just by playing, but they can be focused on rapid XP gains. If focusing on Milestones is a player’s intention, it’s recommended to look them up online first and, if available, complete them under an XP booster’s effects.
A new introduction in Season 5, Bounties should be sought after by every player for how useful they are. In order to complete a Bounty, a player must first receive one from one of the NPCs scattered around the map. After that, hunt down the player specified to complete the Bounty. This not only awards Gold Bars, but a good chunk of XP as well. A Bounty each game keeps the XP rolling in, so try to squeeze them in whenever possible.
Fortnite is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
