Genshin Impact Xiao Banner Date Possibly Leaked | Game Rant

Genshin Impact has not been shy about releasing new content. Since the game’s release just two months ago, fans have been able to enjoy several new updates, including a major in-game event, new regions, and several powerful playable characters.

It seems that with the new year approaching, miHoYo has no intentions of slowing down its pace. While Travelers are fairly confident that one of the next updates is arriving around December 23, 2020, a new Genshin Impact leak claims that players can expect a twofold character update in February, when Xiao and “Weiwei” are allegedly arriving.

Leaker NEP NEP shares that the five-star character featured beginning February 3, 2021, will be an Electro Vision holder named Weiwei. Xiao, the Anemo pole arm five-star, will be subsequently featured beginning on February 24. As noted by NEP NEP, the leaks should be taken with a grain of salt.

First and foremost, “Weiwei” may be a mistranslation, as per the leaker’s own follow-up tweet. That said, the Genshin Impact character will apparently be an Electro claymore user, and come alongside a four-star Anemo mage called Mimiko. On the other hand, the long-anticipated Adeptus Xiao is purported to arrive alongside a four-star Dendro character named Yaoyao, who like Mimiko, is rumored to wield catalysts.

“Fevrier” is French for February, so fans can assume the source of this leak was a French or French-speaking player, but otherwise little is known. Even NEP NEP, the leaker sharing the information, is being cautious. That being said, players should note that such leaks are nearly always shared with the disclaimer of “grain of salt,” so while good to bear in mind, it shouldn’t be considered indicative of an illegitimate leak.

To that end, players have been aware of a Lantern Festival, or Festival of Lights, event since the game’s beta, though the original was a March event. It would be no stretch to consider that Xiao, who is rumored to be a festival feature, would be introduced just prior to the main bulk of the event, or something the like. Aside from Xiao, Travelers are already aware of Ganyu, Albedo, and several other characters’ imminent arrivals, simply by nature of their existence in the beta, and other conveniently aligned leaks.

So whether Xiao ultimately arrives on February 24 or not, players can probably rest assured that they’ll be able to Wish for the Anemo character at some point in the near future. They’re one of the few remaining un-introduced but visible characters in Genshin Impact, so they’re bound to join the ranks of money-magnets like Zhongli and Tartaglia sooner rather than later.

Genshin Impact is available now on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and PS4, and is currently in development for Switch.
