The season of giving is here once again, and while this year has been quite the doozie, the holidays are a nice time to kick back and relax with some video games. Of course, on top of that, there will likely be some shopping going on, and while it can be difficult to find gifts for gamers, there are a few perfect items out there.
For those that were lucky enough to bag an Xbox Series X, there are quite a few options that can make the season feel extra special. While buying games is always risky, as it can be difficult to pin down what someone doesn’t already own, there’s a mountain of other things — both on a budget and otherwise — that are worth giving instead.
While the year-long Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription is no more, there are still options for single-month renewals and three-month renewals, both of which can be purchased in the form of a prepaid card. In a lot of ways, this is the perfect gift for any Xbox gamer, as it cuts out an entire monthly subscription, there’s no limit to how long it can be extended, and it’s a vital part of the Xbox experience.
Plus, Xbox Game Pass is becoming an even better deal over time, with Microsoft’s Bethesda acquisition adding a ton of new games to the library and a lot more to come in the future. On top of that, Microsoft owns plenty of other studios, while still making deals with third-party ones to offer hundreds of games in one package.

Video games are getting bigger, but the Xbox Series X launched with a 1TB hard drive, the same storage size that the Xbox One X had. With games clocking in anywhere from 50-100+ GBs these days, that amount of storage simply won’t go as far as it used to, especially considering that some of it will be taken up by the operating system out of the box. The solution is the Seagate Storage Expansion Card for the Xbox Series X, which adds an additional 1TB for users to store games on. It’s a great gift for just about anyone, but especially those looking to try everything Xbox Game Pass has to offer.

Out of the box, the Xbox Series X only includes one controller, and while the console is backward compatible with the Xbox One’s controller, the newer version packs a hefty number of improvements. Not to mention, Xbox offers a range of color options for the controllers, giving them a bit more of a personal feel. Plus, while co-op games aren’t as common as they used to be, it’s still nice to have an extra controller to swap in whenever the need arises.
There are also premium options for those that want to go the extra mile. For a top-tier experience, it’s worth considering the Xbox Elite Series 2 controller, which will give gamers a bunch more options in terms of grip, weight, and feel. Additionally, it adds customizable button pads, which allow users to bind certain actions for faster access, offering them a competitive edge.
Controllers will need a way to be charged, of course. One of the downsides to the standard Xbox Series X controller is that it uses double-a batteries instead of being rechargeable, but that’s where the Venom Twin Charging Dock comes in. The dock offers two rechargeable battery packs and a stand to let them rest on. This mitigates the cost of batteries and makes it easier to continue a long-running gaming session, as a dead controller can be swapped with a charged one.

The most immediate difference Xbox Series X owners are going to notice when upgrading systems is the bump to graphic quality. With older displays, though, some of that detail can be lost. Luckily, gaming monitors have become increasingly common, offering a solid balance between resolution and refresh rate. One of the best examples of that is the ViewSonic ELITE XG270QC Gaming Monitor, a 1440p display with a 165 Hz refresh rate.
Unlike the PS5, the Xbox Series X supports 1440p, so gamers will get to take full advantage of what the display has to offer. The high refresh rate, meanwhile, will keep games looking buttery smooth, which especially important for competitive games like Fortnite or Call of Duty. There are tons of monitors out there, and at a variety of price points, but the ViewSonic ELITE XG270QC is one of the best.

It can be difficult to pin down the perfect gaming headset, and the best ones will almost always come at a premium cost. With the Xbox Series X still being early in its lifecycle, there aren’t that many headsets available for it on the market, though one of the early frontrunners is the Razer Nari Ultimate. With built-in wireless connectivity, a solid microphone, and 8 hours of battery life, it’s a great option to consider when buying for an Xbox fan.

There are those that already have everything they need for their consoles, which can make shopping all the more difficult. However, Xbox offers a broad lineup of licensed merchandise for anyone that might want to show off their passion while they’re away from their controllers. Buying clothing can be difficult due to sizing, but it’s still a thoughtful gift, and one that packs a ton of options.
Outside of clothes, Xbox also has a plethora of accessory options, ranging from flashy to subdued. There’s jewelry for those that seem really dedicated to Xbox brand, with things like studded necklaces boasting the Xbox logo available. On top of that, tote bags and phone cases are subtle, but practical, gifts for friends and family. There are, of course, the usual suspects too, like backpacks and mugs. The nice thing about merchandise is that it comes in pretty much every price point, so there should be options available for both Secret Santa gifts as well as close friends and family.

Finding gifts is one of the most challenging parts of any holiday season, but there are a lot of options. While everyone’s budget is different, there’s a wide range of price points for Xbox Series X enthusiasts, which does make the shopping a fair bit easier.
