Cyberpunk 2077: Which Lifepath to Choose | Game Rant

There’s a buzz of tension in the air and everyone knows the reason: Cyberpunk 2077 is just around the corner. Some players have even gotten their hands on Cyberpunk 2077 a bit early, and reviews have started coming in.

Based on the popular tabletop game, Cyberpunk 2077 presents several choices for players when determining how they want to approach the game. This includes how to deal with aspects like combat and interactions with characters. The first major choice players will make regarding these is the background of the main character, V. There are three main Lifepaths to choose from, so here’s a brief rundown of each one.

When considering which Lifepath to choose in Cyberpunk 2077, it’s important to think about the mechanics each path will involve. The style and background each one brings are important, but ensuring the gameplay experience is smooth is also important. When considering the Nomad path, it’s the path of the outsider and cars.

Players won’t have the same innate connection to elements of Night City that might be found in the other two paths. Also, some early reviews indicate that driving, despite being ubiquitous in Cyberpunk 2077, is far from the game’s best aspect. For these reasons, it might be best to consider a different Lifepath for one’s first playthrough, unless Mad Max is a player’s style of choice.

Beginning in Night City this time, the Streetkid is exactly what it says on the tin: a child of Night City’s streets. This can be useful, since Night City’s streets are exactly what players will be exploring most of the time. This background brings with it connections to the everyday people in Night City, both criminal and legit, opening a bunch of extra dialogue options. It may not be as action packed as the Cyberpunk 2077 Nomad Lifepath, but it is sure to come in handy in a pinch.

The economy of Night City is broken. This refers both to the narrative economy, and according to some reviews, the in-game economy as well. This is unlikely to change with the upcoming, bug-fixing patch, so money or alternative options are important. This is where the Corpo Lifepath really shines.

The Corpo Lifepath makes the player a master of manipulation, and starts them in a position of opulence and some degree of power. This will make them substantially better at getting what they want at the cost of human connection, making things like romance options more difficult. For those who seek power both in-game and in the narrative, this is the way to go.

Cyberpunk 2077 releases December 10 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions arriving in 2021.
