Last month, Team 17 released Overcooked: All You Can Eat, a remastered bundle of the first two games in the franchise for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It’s no surprise that Overcooked: All You Can Eat remains a popular title for both next-generation consoles, especially now that many families are staying home for the holidays. Unfortunately, it appears that the game contains a major bug that is currently affecting its local multiplayer mode on the Xbox Series X.
According to player reports, the bug is triggered when players unlock a certain achievement that will kick them out of a level and back to the main menu. It is worth noting that reports of this glitch were made as early as last month, where players cannot assign roles when there is more than one controller connected to the console. This means that once the glitch is activated, players can’t play Overcooked: All You Can Eat via local multiplayer.
Although reports on when exactly the bug is triggered vary from case to case, the consensus is that as soon as the game showers players with achievements, it will bring them back to the main menu, which results in players losing all progress on the current level that they are in. There is still no word if the problem is also present in the PS5 version of the game or if Team17 is already aware of the issue. Given the severity of the glitch that breaks the game’s local multiplayer mode, it is likely that a fix will be patched into Overcooked: All You Can Eat soon.
Meanwhile, Team17 revealed several weeks ago that Overcooked: All You Can Eat will be released in physical format for both the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Players in North America should expect the physical edition of the bundle to be released on December 11 and will be priced at $49.99. Unfortunately for players on current-gen consoles, it appears that the game will remain exclusive to the PS5 and Xbox Series X, and players on current-gen platforms would have to rely on the original releases of both Overcooked games.
Overcooked: All You Can Eat is now available digitally for the PS5 and Xbox Series X, with physical copies releasing on December 11, 2020.
